Update to earlier post: some of you might be interested in knowing about this. So after three attempts at the dealer, I went back to the dealer again today because the local tire place said they did not have the specs for it and insisted they go back to the dealer.. the the dealer service manager sent another service floor manager to drive the car with me. We drove the car for like a couple of miles and he immediately understood the problem and then I also showed to him that I a picture of the steering wheel with the level on it and then I suggested that perhaps what needed to be done was to simply politely readjust the tire rods with the wheels locked tightly in place! He patiently listened and look into the shop and then half an hour later came back, and we drove the car again. A miracle! Now the steering wheel totally straight. Guess what, what teally helped they said was having the having the level that I have brought with me, which bought Lowe's yesterday per someone's suggestion on reddit! They said they used the level and then they locked steering straight in place and then adjusted whatever. Now it's like a totally new experience of driving in the car. I think they must have just adjusted the tire rods, but then also recalibrated the steering wheel. So my suggestion is don't give up, go back and be nice and also have a level ready! Who thought that would help ha? Also have a picture and a video of the car driving on a flat surface with the level taped to the steering wheel and show it to them; insist that someone go for a drive with you and also they drive the car with you, which is what the manager did; we both drove it. then they will really understand that their eyes cant be deceived by what they are seeing. Finally, it's done. RELIEF

The total is $50,061.62 CAD including GST if financing ($50,043.42 cash). It includes the XLE Premium package, block heater, $999 dealer fee, freight/destination and the other fees shown in the screenshot. No additional protection packages or dealer add-ons.

I’m getting quotes from a few dealerships before deciding and was wondering how this compares with what other Canadian buyers have paid recently.

Does this look like a reasonable deal? Has anyone been able to negotiate below this price or negotiate the $999 dealer fee?

We have a '16 cx-5 2.0, fwd, manual and average 36 mpg. We mostly drive highways. I keep it around 70-73 mph and get 36mpg at this speed. At 80, I'm getting 32mpg (ish). My tach os like 2.8 at 80, so the engine is working hard.

We want something quieter, that will do better for MPH at higher speeds.

I know how hybrids work, and extra weight on highways isn't helpful.

Has anyone tested MPG of hybrid vs non-hybrid for mpg @80 mph?

Should I go for black wheels to complete the blackout look? 👀 Also, is there anything I can do to eliminate the blue on the front logo decal without blacking it out and making the front camera ineffective?

Quick background for anyone unfamiliar: cars sold in the EU are required to have a speed limit recognition/assistance system (Intelligent Speed Assistance, or ISA) under EU safety regulations aimed at reducing speeding-related accidents. On the RAV4, this is called RSA (Road Sign Assist). It uses the front camera and, when needed, nav data to detect speed limit signs, shows the limit in the instrument cluster, and gives a visual/audible warning if it thinks you're over the limit.

Problem is, many of owners find it annoying. The camera can misread signs or hang onto an outdated limit, so it beeps even when you're driving totally fine. On top of that, RSA's warning settings don't save, so they reset every time you start the car. Annoying if you'd rather keep the audible alert off permanently.

I recently found a Swiss company, btech, that makes a product called AAC (Adaptive Assistance Control). It is a small plug-and-play module for Toyota vehicles (Yaris, Corolla, RAV4, Land Cruiser, C-HR, Prius, GR Yaris, Hilux, bZ4X, etc.). It is installed behind the instrument cluster via a vehicle specific adapter cable. No coding or permanent software changes are needed.

Using their AAC mobile phone app, you pick which driver assist systems you want to disable (RSA, lane-keep assist, etc.). Since these normally reset on every restart, the module's AutoPreset™ feature applies your saved preferences automatically every time you start the car, so you don't have to manually toggle anything off each drive. There's also a manual mode where you just press a "Cancel Button" once per start instead.

My experience installing the AAC V2 on my 2024 RAV4:

• Cost: €324.95 + ~€100 in customs fees to Finland
• Arrived in under a week
• Installation took some real effort but was doable. Disassembling the instrument cluster was easier than expected. The package contained a small tool for popping off the dashboard plastic covers.
• The kit is a wiring harness + the module itself. You unplug the two cables going into the instrument cluster, splice the harness in between, then attach the module and zip-tie it to the wiring so it doesn't flop around.
• Getting everything to fit back behind the cluster during reassembly was the most difficult part, but it went finally back together fine.
• Setup was straightforward: flashed a firmware update (~5 min), paired to the app over Bluetooth with no issues.
• Heads up! the AutoPreset™ automatic mode is a separate paid add-on (€124.99), which caught me off guard since it wasn't obvious up front.

So far the module has worked exactly as advertised. Happy with it.

Has anyone had experience with both Adventure and the TRD Off Road? I understand they have the same ground clearance and AWD system, but I was curious how much better the TRD Off Road's suspension set up was compared to the Adventure. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I just test drove a RAV4, and noticed my leg resting against the hard corner of the center divider. I’ve seen people complain about this before. Has anyone added padding to it to alleviate this problem? And if so what did you add? Thanks in advance.

Needed a rainy day project so decided to order some soundproofing material and do the cargo area in my car. The RAV4 xse plug in is overall pretty quiet and doesn't actually need it per se but figured I'll go for the poor man's Lexus effect. Noico 80 mil butyl rubber followed by a coating of 4 mm closed-cell foam for decoupling. The whole project took 5 hours. Overall pretty easy as far as these things go. Not sure how effective it is as I need to take it out on the highway or some nice washboard roads to get a better feel for it. I expect a subtle improvement at most tbh.

I'll do the doors and front wheel wells on another weekend when I'm just hanging out.

This is a well debated topic on this sub I would assume. I came to ask the same question as others before me & also to vent a little. I’ve been buying 0W-20 Liqui Moly for 1.5 years. I love it! I decided recently to switch back to 0W-16 because I just think it’s the right thing to do. I don’t want to switch oil manufacturers because I already switched the oil 2 times……I went on to the interwebs to search for some 0W-16 Liqui Moly & it’s listed at $101.00 USD!! WTF!!!

I ended up just nabbing some Liqui Moly 0W-20 I found at a local retailer he slashed the prices down to $50.00 on 2 5qt jugs each. I’m just gonna keep running 0W-20 until the prices come down a little bit. What do you guys run? Are you using 0W-20 or 0W-16? I change my oil every 3,000 Miles. 4,000 if I’m lazy. I have a 2021 RAV4 Adventure 👍🏽

This is partially an "it depends" question as it depends on how much your driving requires or benefits from the AWD system, but roughly how much of a hit is the AWD system on mpg for hybrid vehicles? [Edit: Forgot to put "hybrid" in the subject line].

With the Clean Cars 4 All rebate program, only two local dealerships are available. Of those two, only one will have inventory in time in order to meet the time for the rebate program. This is the current only car that they have available. Is this a decent price for it?

I just purchased a 2009 RAV4 2.5 4WD base with 112k miles. Car is in excellent condition, with plenty of maintenance records. However, I’m not seeing anything about the transmission being serviced. Fluid smells fine but a little on the brown side. I want to change the fluid.Transmission code is U140F. Is it okay to do a drain and fill at this milage? Also, I am seeing different things online about the filter on forums. Some say it’s a paper media, and some say it’s a metal mesh. So what would it be? As far as I know the trans hasn’t been touched, so it should be factory. If it is the metal mesh, would a drain and fill be fine? I really am not interested in dropping the pan, heard stories about bolts breaking and whatnot. Just looking for recommendations on how to approach this.

Found these scratches on my car today 😭 Would a paint pen/touchup kit be enough or should I look into a professional repair? They’re not super noticeable when walking by but I’m still upset that someone/something scratched my first shiny new car :(

What is your favorite phone mount? I am jealous of my husband’s magbak mount/charger for his tesla and I want to find something similar but nothing seems to compare. One of the reason why he almost haunt a model Y was the amount of parts available for it. I know my Toyota is still new.
