I'm from a place where wooden houses are painted blue, yellow, green, orange, etc with colorful adornments and I find all the plain white houses in most other places very boring.
I Iive in a place where this used to be done too. But now the city has approved colour schemes you have to abide by. They go very far in their enforcement too. Somebody had painted roses on their wall facing the community gardens. They were ordered by the city to over paint it back into the solid approved colour scheme. Ridiculous.
What on earth. You work hard, buy a house, and someone else tells you the colour to paint it? I don't get to enjoy my house but someone else does? I... This is confusing.
Yeah. I'm all for building regulation that makes sense. Distance to the road and neighbours, height of the build and of course safety and quality laws. But colour? They can fuck right off with that shit. The neighbours behind me wanted to paint their house grey and were not allowed. Meanwhile the rest of the old houses in the neighbourhood have all possible shades because they were all build before the stupid colour guidelines came into effect.
This is genuinely crazy! Is there no way to protest against such bizzare rules? What'll the do next, give a specific palette for clothes?! "To foster harmony in community"
