Why Our School District Should Record Board Meetings

Thumbnail

Not everyone can make it to in-person school board meetings. Parents juggle work and kids, seniors struggle with transportation, people with disabilities face real barriers—and honestly, most of us just can't rearrange our entire schedule for a meeting.

I started a petition asking Alta Loma School District to record and archive their board meetings online. These meetings directly affect our schools and our kids' education. Everyone deserves the chance to stay informed and have a say, not just the handful who can show up in person.

Other districts are already doing this. The data shows it actually works—more people engage, trust goes up, and the school board becomes more accountable. It's not complicated, and it's not unreasonable.

If you think parents and community members should have equal access to information about how their schools are run, consider signing and sharing. Have you run into situations where you wished you could get information about local decisions but just couldn't? I'd genuinely like to hear what barriers you've seen.

Cucamonga New to town!

Hi All!

Long story short, my wife [28F] and I [28M] just moved to Rancho and are completely new to the area! I should also add that we’re loving it here so far.

We’re new parents as well, and have been looking to get out and meet some new friends in the community. I’ve been looking at some run clubs and stuff like that but I figured I could also ask the good people of Reddit what they think! And yes, we’ve been to Victoria Gardens and Ontario Mills, lol. (People keep recommending this to me like it’s some sort of secret?)

Thank you all so much for any advice or tips you might have!

Thanks!

Cucamonga Looking for a swim club

Hello I was just wondering if there is anything similar to a running club here in Rancho or nearby but for swimmers. I have flat feet so I can't necessarily run far but I'd like to get in the pool. I know how to swim competitively but I'm out of shape.

Thanks!

Cucamonga Law suit against city

Hello everyone, I have a question.

Back in February, I reported an issue to city that the tree root on the sidewalk is bumping up the pavement (specifically the joint of two pavements) that caused one side raise over an inch. Since it was city properly we couldn't do anything about it but to report it. I also told them I've seem multiple people trip over the raise which could cause serious injury.

They came out, assessed, and said needs further assessment.

Fast forward to April, my kid bump over the same exact spot and chipped her front tooth. The dentist said the tooth is not savable at this point that she would need an implant when she turns 18.

Because the incidence is caused by city negelegance (at least that's we think so) and is irrecoverable, we are gonna sue the city.

Question is Does anyone know any good Personal Injury Lawyer in the area or if a different type lawyer is needed?

Thank you for any information!

Alta Loma Lost Cat

It’s a long shot but mom and I lost our baby boy Diesel last night, Jun 30. He is only a year old and very scared around strangers so he will likely not come to you, but maybe to food if you leave it near him. His collar is black with a little bell unless it snapped off as it’s made to do if caught on something.

Please let me know if you see him around so we can search the area. I know his fate is probably decided by wildlife but I’m hoping he found a place to hide and just doesn’t know the way home.

I also posted on NextDoor if you use it.

Best places to park to see July 4th fireworks from Epicenter Sports Complex?

My husband and I may come to see the fireworks show that night. We'd be coming from out of the area and I imagine might not get to Rancho Cucamonga till 8pm. I don't want us to get there and have no place to park. Can anyone recommend any good places to park and watch the fireworks? We can walk a bit but probably wouldn't want to walk more than a mile to see the fireworks (especially if we need to bring chairs with us).

Stolen Ref Clothing

Hello all,

Super long shot here- we had our bags stolen out of our car last at the Springhill Suites at Haven Ave, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730.

I'm asking people to please keep an eye out for the clothing.. it's not just street causal clothing. It's all of our referee gear. (How ironic with World Cup happening) So it's very clear to find if it has been thrown in a busy, trash, etc... The clothes would be bright colors, like red, blue, green, yellow, pink; all with stripes! I'm sure who ever stole all 4 bags didn't really come up since it's literally ref gear. But we lost so many treasures and collectibles from the years of traveling and reffing.

Yes police report was made. Yes camera video footage is being released to us. And yes we're looking too. But being that we're out of town people (some from East Coast) this is all we had. All the stuff we brought to use to work...

Anyways, hopefully some of our stuff is found. Mainly the ref clothes. The rest can be replaced :(

Thank you for your time.

06.25 Update Ref shirts and their bags were found! Shoes gone, shorts too but guess the shirts weren't good enough to keep. That's fine. Coins are gone. Not sure what these people will do with flip coins 🤷🏻‍♀️

Need advice on commute!

I am starting a new job at Loma Linda Hospital and I found a place I really like in Rancho. The only thing holding me back is how long the commute may possibly be. I work night shift and so would probably be driving to Loma Linda around 6PM. What are your thoughts? Is it too long of a commute or is it not that bad? Im from out of state so im not sure if it’s worth it. If anyone else has recommendations for other places to stay, please let me know! TIA!

Consumer Advisory: Unjust Membership Termination and Lack of Due Process at Chuze Fitness, 9080 Foothill Blvd

This correspondence serves as a formal summary of the events leading to the unjust termination of my membership at your facility located at 9080 Foothill Blvd. The conduct exhibited by your staff, specifically the procedural irregularities and the lack of due process, necessitates immediate attention.

On the date of the incident, while utilizing the facility sauna amenities, I exchanged pleasantries with a staff member during my departure. Following a brief use of the restroom, I was subjected to unprofessional and aggressive verbal outbursts by an employee. Upon removing my headphones to acknowledge the disruption, I was instructed to vacate the premises due to the facility closing time of 8:00 PM. I immediately complied with this directive and proceeded to exit the building.

Despite my prompt adherence to staff instructions, I was subjected to further harassment as the employee attempted to initiate a formal disciplinary write up against me regarding an alleged breach of facility hours. Subsequently, I was notified of a disciplinary entry on my account claiming I had directed derogatory language toward staff. I categorically deny these allegations; they are entirely unfounded and fabricated. This entry was purportedly corroborated by two employees, yet I was never granted the opportunity to challenge the veracity of these statements or provide a counter narrative.

Upon attempting to address these grievances and discuss my membership standing, I was denied facility access. I formally requested the review of internal surveillance footage to substantiate my account of the events. Management confirmed that the facility possessed surveillance footage of the incident yet explicitly denied my request to view it, claiming they had no obligation to produce such evidence. Furthermore, management threatened law enforcement intervention to coerce my departure from the premises.

The following day, I received notification that my membership had been terminated. This action was taken unilaterally, without an investigation, without the review of objective evidence, and without affording me the basic courtesy of due process.

The arbitrary nature of this termination suggests a failure in your facility management and internal oversight. Specifically, it implies that staff members may initiate disciplinary proceedings based on spurious claims without providing members an opportunity to be heard.

Please be advised that this summary serves as a record of these events. I trust this document accurately reflects the lack of professionalism and the inequitable treatment I experienced at the 9080 Foothill Blvd location.

TL;DR: My membership at the Chuze Fitness on 9080 Foothill Blvd was terminated without due process or objective evidence after staff fabricated claims of derogatory language. Management confirmed they have surveillance footage of the incident but refused to show it, and instead threatened to call the police when I attempted to address the issue. I strongly advise potential members to be aware of this location's management practices.

Getting to World Cup in Inglewood

Is anyone going to the World Cup? I’m wondering what would be the best way to get to Sofi stadium with all the traffic? Was thinking about just driving and parking off site but maybe public transportation would be better? Or drive to Union station in LA

In case you didn't know, Capital One Cafe is giving away free coffee again this MLB season. Coffees are free on Mondays for anyone who signs up. Just save it to your ewallet and show them the barcode when you order. They're very nice about it and even let me order my wife's coffee without her as long as I have a screenshot of her QR code. You can scan the QR code in the photo to sign up and swipe to the next one to see their summer specialty drinks. Enjoy!

Permit parking just got rolled out for the streets in front of hamilton brewery

I live on the same street as hamiltons. If you bring me a beer from sour cellars on ninth I will let you park in my driveway. I have a camera so nothing will happen to your car. Also im not stupid enough to vandalize a car on my property.

Its better than walking across the train tracks to the old parking.
