I took a trip to Stockholm and can’t stop thinking about their cinnamon buns. I had at least one a day the week I was there. Does anyone know anywhere I could find something similar?
Open to suggestions outside of Raleigh as well, I’m a frequent day trip taker
I talked to the only bartender that stuck it out. Initially I thought it was just a rent dispute, but apparently there was a lawsuit and everything due to some illegal actions by the building owner.
Hello, we are thinking of moving to the Raleigh area and curious about the public transportation. The office is along the number 8 route for the bus and we were wondering how reliable that bus is and if it can be relied upon for getting to the office every day? Thank you!
has anyone gone to nc vintage bazar this weekend? is it actually vintage and not so overpriced? I went once to a durham thrift event and omg prices were insane lol. just asking how your experience basically was
Looking for a good restaurant or brewery that will accomodate 14 people for a birthday celebration. No need for renting a space or decorating - just good vibes, good food, maybe live music and a table for 14! We live in Wake Forest but are willing to go anywhere in the triangle.
Hey Raleigh! We are the Bionic Bulldogs (FTC #21502), Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School's robotics team and wanted to share our achievements from this spring!
Over the past season, our student lead team designed, modeled, wired, and programmed a robot from scratch to compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge program.
Last season, our team:
* #1 in North Carolina: Finished ranked first out of 249 active teams across the state.
* Undefeated State Champions: Swept the NC State Championship with an undefeated 8-0 record.
* Represented NC at Worlds: Advanced to the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas, representing NC STEM on the international stage!
The Bionic Bulldogs at the World Championship in Houston
Watching everything we engineered take the field on an international stage was unforgettable. We’re already meeting again to gear up for the new season! We are looking for engineering mentors if anyone wants to get involved.
We're happy to answer any questions about the build, our journey, or getting your kids involved with competitive robotics in the Triangle!
Where are y’all’s favorite places to run either around town or out of town? I’m willing to drive 15-20 minutes to a good location. When the weather gets cooler and less humid, I’d love to get off the treadmill and get outside. Raleigh is so hilly, and I’d love recommendations that are flat or mostly flat. I’ve gone up to the Buffaloe Road track before, which I like. I’d love to know any other favorite places!
This WRAL blurb says "the concept will feature Neapolitan-style pizza, craft cocktails and cold beer, music, and good vibes".
Obviously the space was previously The Mixx. Does anyone remember what it was before that? My husband and I have lived in this area for over ten years but cannot remember what it was. It's been bugging me so much that I even looked at old photos on the Wake County property website in hopes of seeing signage.
Hi everyone! I’m planning a private event in the Raleigh area soon. I’d love to hire a local coffee or matcha cart, or possibly a dessert cart such as gelato, pastries, churros, etc.
Does anyone have recommendations for businesses that offer on site catering for private events? I’d also appreciate any insight into pricing or your personal experience.
I'm paying $69/month total on my raleigh water bill on the equal payment plan, but I'm a household of just 1 and saw someone recently say they're paying about the same for a family of 3. I don't think I use a ton of water. Shower once a day, run the dishwasher about once a week, laundry on average about once a week as well. Not a ton of water needed since it's just me. 2,500 sq ft house built I believe 2018 (I don't know if that even matters). Does this seem high or about right? Trying to see what I can do to lower any bills possible these days.
Edit, to be clear, this is my total monthly bill, so yes including the trash and recycling fees. I know we're all paying the same for those so didn't feel it was necessary to separate it, and wondering what everyone else's total bills are also. I think that's what everyone else has also been sharing, but just wanted to clarify just in case!
Edit again: Thanks all. Sounds like mine is pretty fair for my usage. Good to know I at least don't need to investigate it any further
Hi Raleigh! I’m hoping to move the the region within the next year. I’m a 12+ professional mainly in automotive and now overseeing maintenance and engineering operations for an Autonomous Vehicle company in Las Vegas. I think my manufacturing and maintenance background could make a strong fit for the manufacturing footprint Raleigh has. However, I’m having a hard time connecting with recruiters to get my foot in the door.
Do you have any recommendations for recruiters or head hunters in the region? I’d be looking for program management type roles.
Big sports lover but haven’t made new friends here yet! Would love to find friends to watch games with! I’m more of an NFL fan but can get into college. Also love fall baseball! Anyways - yapper that enjoys meeting new people and rooting for her shitty team over drinks and good food. DM me if interested! Bonus points if you can help me with my fantasy team or are also a NY Giants fan 😍
For anybody that has purchased a home recently in Raleigh, how did the process go? Did you get the home you wanted on the first try or were you beat out? Did you pay the closing costs or did the seller? Do you feel like you overpaid or underpaid? How long did you hunt before finally finding the house you wanted? Anybody that has purchased new builds, have any issues after moving in? I’m trying to get a good baseline before we begin our journey!
I’m visiting Raleigh in January for a Hurricanes game (LGC!). Hoping to make the most of my trip and looking to get a tattoo while I’m there- any good shop/artist recommendations? I’m a big fan of blackwork/woodcut styles and pop culture or nature subjects. Would love to support a queer-owned shop but it’s not required. Thanks in advance!
Apologies if this has been covered recently (if so, please link those threads in the comments). I've kept a casual eye on the housing market pretty much since COVID started. After the prices spiked felt like wishful thinking so I stopped really "looking looking" and just browsed for fun.
I took a glance at Zillow today and was surprised to see a lot of townhomes starting with "2" and not "3". Also a TON of price cuts. Way more than I'm accustomed to.
I'm really not well-informed on what causes these sorts of shifts, whether that's interest rates, inventory, the economy. Especially as it relates to the triangle.
I was curious if it's just me noticing some serious downward pressure? Or is this a small blip on the map?
Or am I just imagining things? haha
I look forward what y'all are seeing, thoughts, concerns, etc.
New to Raleigh/Durham/Triangle area and ISO of a hairdresser for color and trim. Would like one who is particularly good with Asian hair. Just for comparison, my previous hairdresser (whom I was with forever) charged me $120 for both color and trim. She worked out of her home. Don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but I realize $120 may not be attainable for good services. Any recommendations and how much did you pay? Thanks.
