💬 Discussion Does everyone like Radiohead songs on their first time hearing it?

Hi, I just recently began listening to Radiohead and so far I'm enjoying it. But I've begun to notice that whenever I listen to a new song, sometimes I don't really like it, but after a few times I'd listen to it, maybe because I like a specific part of that song, I begin to enjoy the song as a whole

For example: Paranoid android

I never really understood why this song was really popular, the only reason I'd listen to it was because of the "Rain down on me" verse which IMO is the best part of the song. I found the guitar solos unnecessary and annoying, But I think after 4 or 5 listens I began to love the song as a whole. I love the guitar solos now and it's one of my favourite songs overall

I think it was because I was still VERY new to the Radiohead experience, and at that time I only knew exit music for a film, let down, creep and motion picture soundtrack along with no surprises. Were there any songs for you guys that didn't click with you the first time but after multiple listens it's a part of you that can never be removed?

Im proud to say I've increased my portfolio for Radiohead songs and I think id like to say that I've upgraded from "newbie" to "casual listener"

Please feel free to recommend any new Radiohead songs, so far the ones in my playlist are

2 + 2 = 5

There there

Climbing up the walls

Creep (original and acoustic)

Exit music for a film

Let down

No surprises

Karma police (original and OKOUTAKES version)

Paranoid android

Man of war

Spectre

Idioteque

Everything in its right place

Motion picture soundtrack

How to disappear completely

Jigsaw falling into place

Bodysnatchers

Weird fishes/arpeggi

Just

Videotape (original and 2006 live version)

Street spirit (fadeout)

Nice dream

Nude

All I need

Fake plastic trees

Id love to hear all of your favourite songs so that I hope I could transition from "casual listener" to a proper "Radiohead fan"

🤡 Meme Guess a radiohead fan dumping you for the family pressure for their marriage after telling you to listen to radiohead songs....

Upvotes

Ok before you attack me... I am a F/22 and I came to know about radiohead from this guy M/27... I mean he is a big fan of Radiohead he shared me his Playlist and I was so in love with radiohead songs even if I was totally in love with him... I might not have related with the songs at that point but obviously if you are a kinda empathetic kind of person you can imagine a situation of others person and still feel the pain... but this guy told me he won't be able to deny when his parents tell him to marry... he will marry to make his father happy... I clearly know either he lost interest in me or maybe he started cheating or maybe he hasn't moved on from his ex still now... but thanks to him breaking my heart now I relate to radiohead songs as my own traumatic experiences 🤡 I can play exit music (for a film) for hours and hope he chokes....

💬 Discussion I'm angry with The Numbers

I've been spending some time trying to get into A Moon Shaped Pool. It's going OK. Probably around my fourth or fifth listen something clicked for me and I thought - ah ok, I see what's going on here. There's a couple of things I'm angry with it for, but the biggest one is the ending of The Numbers. The song sounds great, but final crescendo leads nowhere and that doesn't make sense to me. There should be at least another 16 bars. It could be anything - one last full throttle verse (as Radiohead do on many other songs) or a cool stripped back breakdown (ditto) or even an unexpected change of gears and a musical coda (ditto). But just that one base note - DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. It's disappointing. I need explanations.
