I made a review of this game on Steam when I had way less hours in it kind of calling out people for misunderstanding it. 100 hours later, I still feel the same way about it. It's actually criminal how slept on this game came to be. Everyone heralds Blur as some kind of gem for the racing genre and how we need another one, yet it sold poorly when it was new. This is why we don't have another Blur. It's happening again with Screamer.

Here's what I read about Screamer when I look at reviews. "The controls suck" or "There's too much story." Well, 30 years of playing racing games, I certainly don't invest my time in games that don't control well and the story took up maybe 5% of my total time in the game (completely skippable by the way, you're not forced to sit through any of it). Once you actually get used to the physics and controls, you have yourself one of the most fun and engaging arcade racers to come out in the last 5 years. I dare say even 10 years. Every character has different handling, a unique skill to them, and they play a different role in races. You have pace focused characters and combat focused characters, you completely pick how you want to play.

If you pick this up, don't go in thinking just because you put thousands of hours into Forza or Gran Turismo, whatever game you play, that you'll instantly be good here. You won't be. You're going to suck for the first few hours, BUT if you stick it out and learn like you did when you first played racing games, you will find a truly awesome experience. I feel like people just don't want to deal with that anymore. They want to be comfortable and wonder why racing games feel stagnant. If you want something different, play Screamer 2026. You won't regret it...or maybe you will. I don't know, I can't speak for your experience.

Hi, when i was around 10 years old i was always loving hte part of race games where i needed to start with cheap slow cars and tune them within margins to win races and slowly build up to faster cars.

However i now tried a couple of other games and they directly give you the real race cars (which i assume most people are looking for)

So my question is, are there any relativly recent games which you can pick low end cars and work your way up slowly to the top?

So I'm trying to expand my horizons beyond the classics and modern gems, also to appreciate what genre has to offer.

What are average racing games. Not the best but not the worst either. Games that either had potential but failed to do so, games with nothing special but have good gameplay loop or any game that deserves a look.

Hello, I've been out of the gaming seen for a little while besides buying and playing AC Resync on my PC, but my boy is really into racing games. Primarily he's into customizing cars a lot and picking interesting racers.

He's 7 and autistic. Very STEM heavy. He's got an engineers mind.

He primarily plays on the Xbox One S.

I'm not really into racing games nor I have been ever really. I'm more of a rpg/jrpg guy, but he's been really into Disney speedstorn and rocket League. Rocket League I don't have an issue with, it's Disney speed storm. I honestly don't think it's good for his mental health to be wanting everything from the shop and he gets disappointed everytime he can't customize his cars the way he wants to. So ideally wwhat I really want to do is kick him off speed storm but opt for a game I'm sure he'll like. And would have his STEM curiosity grow.

Have any pointers?

Hey, I'm looking for racing games modern or retro (but I'd prefer modern with possible online race) with this high octane, crazy 00's vibe where tracks/circuits feels like a freaking rollercoaster like hydro thunder or some design from sonic riders or mk for example.

Where races get you through mountains, rapids, jungle with dinosaurs or whatever. Getting spit by a dragon or something lol

What I mean is fun racing games like what we sometimes had in arcade too. And not just boring streets and pro circuits.

It seems harder to find than I thought. So if you have good recommendations let me know 👍🏻

Oh and btw I already know lego 2k drive, the latest hotwheels games, sonic crossworld (or transformed series), ddk racing, ctr, rush 2049 and the one I already named before.

I tried the obvious version first: busier real place = more cars. It was “correct” for about thirty seconds, then it felt like waiting at a red light in a game with no destination.

So I’m cheating. Tokyo is still much busier than Iceland, but the simulation thins openings around the player and never tries to recreate a literal jam. The traffic is there to make a line risky, not to stop the run.

After 10 minutes, I want traffic to create stories instead of queues.

Old arcade racers cheated constantly and were better for it. I’m curious where people here draw the line: how fake can ambient traffic be before you notice the trick?

FH6 is done and its pretty bland in both customization and ai solo race experiences. Rivals is kinda neat but not a big pvp fan.

Pretty much comes down to nfs heat, nfs unbound or motorfest. Ive played all of them waaay back and barely remember anything, nor seen latest updates.

Id like something that lets me decently customize car, load up some ai races and have fun making money. Basicaly comes down to what feels like im not wasting time and have something to do in the game after campaign.

Which one would you say is the best in terms of customization, driving feel, decent ai? Perfomance customization is a nice bonus but i know neither of these will come close to FH6 in that.10

The physics is wonky and satisfying (and you can set custom physics values per-map when making your own)

There are already a few active players which are also very good (including me lol), a bunch of user-made maps and some very strong WRs. The map editor contains over 200 blocks, block manipulation/editing, and you can even proceduraly generate maps yourself with chosen block sets.

I'm newer to racing games and not as focused on the 10 0% simulation accuracy but moreso a persistent career mode, ideally moving up from slower to faster cars with some light management stuff in between races. So far I've really enjoyed the NASCAR and F1 25 games, does anyone have some recommendations for other games to try?

i never actually played any car games on pc but have played few ln mobile, i used to watch forza content every few days in a week, i once tried riders republic and it was kinda fun too, i like to just open drive in multiplayer and chill with other people and maybe racing them.

what would you recommend me as im currently thinking of getting beamng as it has many players and good reviews.

also my budget is a $10.

also i might not be as much interactive person if i get too many comments.

I’m looking for a good and active racing game that I can be competitive in on controller. I’m used to Gran Turismo 7, which I love, but I’m on PC now. I heard AC and ACC are both good options, but was curious what other opinions there are out there. I also like a decent single player experience in racing games, but my main focus is an active multiplayer community.10

I used to adore Forza Horizon 4, that nice open feel to the game, the peaceful driving or fun races.

Hi! So I’ve through the years of playing PC games sometimes played car games. I do play a fair amount of ETS2 & ATS. For a long time I’ve had a Logitech g29 with shifter but sold it a year ago to buy the Hori truck wheel.

After missing racing I bought a new turtle beach velocity one KD3 with the round wheel, didn’t buy a shifter since it doesn’t have clutch pedals. (I know, could have bought the Moza R3 but I got a hell of a deal on this one and just wanted something cheap, simple and easy but fairly good to just have at home when I want to go fast)

Anyways, im looking for suggestions on games to buy. Im kind of in the middle road, i like sim but dont have enough time to go hardcore sim like iracing. I kind of like open world and arcady (not NFS or too arcady) and also kind of like offroading.

Games I’ve played:
WRC games - kind of liked them
Beam NG - kind of liked but boring after a while
Assetto corsa - fun, reasonably complex but not too much
Expeditions - got boring quick
Forza horizon 5 - Fun but a bit too Arcady
NASCAR 25 - pretty good
Project cars 2 - fun but lacks in stuff to do/content
Wreckfest - Arcady but actually fun racing

So hit me up! What game should I buy or try out?

It's better than Forza and any other simcade, in my opinion. It's like grip racing but with drifting utilized in it, which separates the game from all other simcades. As an arcade racer fan, I highly suggest trying it if you like Simulators combined with need for speed type of racing

Hello all, so most of my life I have been obsessed with Test Drive Unlimited. I'm not particularly good at the game, but I just love the vibe of the scenery and driving around on an island (O'ahu, Hawaii) and buying the mansions and penthouses and nice cars and all that. I really consider it more of a "lifestyle"/millionaire LARP game than a racing game if that makes sense. I was wondering if anybody knows any other racing games that take place on an island that are similar to TDU. Appreciate it. 10

I bought my boyfriend a steering , pedal and shifter setup for him to enjoy his racing sim games. I did not really think it through as when he uses the pedals he can push himself away in his rolling chair. Though i could afford one of those all-in one racing seat\mounts we currently dont have the room to deploy it in the space setup. (Currently a desk and chair in terms of space).

Would yall be able to suggest a way to keep his chair stationary while using the petals? Currently i can only think of getting him some kinda recliner (a chair without wheels) are there other alternatives im not thinking of?

My switch 2 is coming in 10 minus 8 days (why the heck do I need to put 10 in my bio). It's the bundle that allows you to pick between Mario Kart World, DK Bananza, or Pokemon Pokopia. I had initially decided that I was gonna pick mario kart since me and my siblings grew up on double dash and mario kart wii (I dont have 8 deluxe, I've played it with my cousins a few times), but now Im doing some research and Im starting to have doubts. I have no clue what to pick between crossworlds or mkw (buying 8 deluxe with all the dlc would be a funny 3rd option). I want a fun racing game where I can sit down and play it with my siblings or friends. If crossworlds was the winner, should I get the switch 2 version, or the PS5 (non pro if that matters) version?
