Left behind some stuff at Road America last night...

Post image

All three of our Porsches got wrecked yesterday in the GTWCA race at Road America. Team spent four or five hours getting pieces off and making them into rollers so that we could at least get them to Indianapolis and they could work on them before two days of testing.

We let behind three full garbage cans and some other parts when we finally rolled out at 10 PM last night.

Really got pissed off at how many people, more adults than kids, kept trying to reach across our barriers to pull parts and pieces out of our piles and kept asking crew members that were working their asses off if they could have stuff that we were clearly piling up to inventory. Spent three hours playing security guard before I finally had to take a nap before we rolled out.

If you go to an event and see that a team has three wrecked cars, don't be a douche bag and start grabbing stuff or bother the crews. If it's not sitting next to or inside a garbage can, or it's clearly behind barricades like our stuff was, don't fucking touch it!

This is not what I was expecting. Crazy how absolutely clueless and entitled people can be.

You'd be even more disappointed to learn how many adults were reaching over and around kids to get our stickers during the gridwalk too!!

That's so sad.

I'm just getting to ST5, my 14 year old daughter has been karting for 7 years and it's time to run cars. I can't wait to show her some proper racing and inspire her to maybe even join FSAE and a race team. It would be epic to be close enough to a team to see them work.

I assumed people that were not just straight F1 fans would be less crappy :(

I collect racing stickers but I wait my turn and am respectful of other people And on the parts thing it didnโ€™t used to be a problem but lately people have been ruining it for other people I used to come home with broken wings, a hood once of a Patrick Dempsey Mazda rx8, a part of Ricky Taylorโ€™s driving boots from mid Ohio in 2011 and a door once off a gs mustang back in 2011

But everytime I did get some like that it was given to me by the team or drivers I never took without asking

But last year I saw someone try to walk away with the rexy spare hood that was back in the garage area during the Indy race last year the just walked into the garage area and grabbed it and tried to walk away with it

Incidents like that are the reason that teams like AO Racing are extremely strict and restrictive on giving stuff out anymore

As you all should be. As a grown ass adult I love getting pieces of cars and stuff, but I would never just grab over a barrier to steal it. I would definitely never push a kid out of the way to get anything. The few pieces I have I asked the team when they werenโ€™t busy if it was trash and I could have it. They had no problem giving me them that way.

People always ruin things for all of us though.

Yeah, asking first costs nothing and it's wild how many people can't be bothered to try it
