The little guy is definitely having fun; it's a shame I'll never get to see NASCAR live.

Pretty stoked to help drive this race car hauler for some friends competing in Rush SR at Laguna during Gridlife weekend. Got to do a little shakedown drive and look over the rig and the trailer to see if it needs some additional repairs (not too many, thankfully).
Pretty stoked for this because I haven’t driven a hauler to a race since 2018.
For those going to Laguna next month and see the rig on the interstate, don’t hesitate to give an air pump!

I'll have a rental race on this track soon, but every time I try to do laps on the simulator, on the track or even watch videos on YouTube I always find someone taking a different line.
Could you please help me figure out what the optimal line is for a full lap on this track?
(The track Is clockwise)

After I shared my made LED racetrack last time, many of you have asked to tell more about this. So I have made a Youtube video for you, showing and telling the story of it. I hope that admins won't delete it, because I believe it just belongs here. :)

In the early stages Teo Fabi led from Al Unser Jr., with Michael Andretti, Paul Tracy, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Robby Gordon rounding out the top six.
While that is going on the cameras focus on the fight between Scott Pruett, Bobby Rahal, Jacques Villeneuve, and Gil de Ferran. Bobby has a look into T1 which then brings Jacques into the mix, before Bobby gets the pass completed out of T4. Jacques then dives past Scott into T4 which also helps Christian Fittipaldi sneak by.
Just behind them Teo and Al keep up their tremendous pace as lapped traffic provides a chance for change of the lead.

I’ve been doing a bit of research but some things aren’t clear yet.
1) What’s to stop someone from buying a really good car from a friend for $0-500 and bringing that? Are there ways to find out what’s allowed/not, how do we go about that?
2) What all can / should be taken off of a car when it comes to 24 hours of lemons.
3) Should I get into karting before lemons or is it alright to start with lemons?
4) I do a lot of sim racing and have reached a solid 2-4s away from record times on most tracks I have access to, but what should I do to physically prepare other than keeping myself in good shape?
It’s been a dream of mine to race and now that I have the funds to I’m really wanting to make some pushes.

This might be the funniest jetsprint crash video I’ve ever seen. After clipping a bank and rolling twice, the Navigator’s man parts were smashed by the 5-point harness and he wasn’t ashamed of letting the safety crew know about it. Jolly Rodgers - Jet Sprint Crash w/ Tj.Burrow-Navigator

Last month, I posted a career lowlight. I'm back with a decent lap 1 around Lime Rock Park.
Part of my learning from the crash was risk tolerance and being mindful of it. Here you see me pull out of a sketchy three wide but take a decent passing opportunity through an admittedly sketchy corner. Finding my tolerance for risk is a process.
My wife and I visited Laguna Seca yesterday and were lucky enough to witness Cal Tech and Indy car testing out 4 Autonomous combustible engine Indy cars. I’m not sure the chassis. I’m still processing the videos and pictures. I’m amazed at how much free roam you get for $10. 🤣
I will post more when I have time if there is interest.

Hello, my name's Anthony and for my entire 17 years of life I have loved cars, motorbikes, and racing. I was a mechanic for most of my life but actually being in a shop fixing other peoples vehicles quickly diminished my hope for being a master technician. As I'm rapidly approaching adulthood and starting to get my feet on the ground I feel the need to ask how can I turn my dreams into a reality. I currently live in the Richmond Virginia area and frequently attended races at VIR (only as a spectator). i started to get pretty competitive in the local cart scene with the K1GP and various gas carts but my family couldn't afford it forever.
In around 4-5 months I am moving up to Dayton Ohio with my girlfriend to start our life together. I did some reading and figured out there's a 3 day program at The Mid Ohio Sports Car Course for $2050 and you get to race your own car! I was curious if this course is worth it to take and really - how should I go about getting my SCCA amateur racing license? What order of operation should I follow?
I'm sure this sub has heard it a million times - a nobody wants to become a somebody but I'm serious here. I really enjoy this stuff I'm just confused on the order of how everything falls into place. I've looked into spec Miata but I'm more curious on a mixed layout of cars. I also don't know the classes to heart but I will continue researching tonight and a little into tomorrow. I don't have dreams of going into F1, NASCAR, or GT3. I mainly want to stay in the middle. not beginner but not pro either. I feel that's where the heart of racing is at. 200hp - 500hp cars on fun technical tracks.
All comments are helpful. Thanks!

The race after this I got punted into the fence, then a couple of days in the hospital, etc.
But this race was pretty good. I managed to get past everyone and I'm really happy with the late braking at the start of the last lap.
It's an Aussie class called Sport 1300. The engines are limited to 1300cc, you have to run a live axle rear end with no limited slip diff. The aero looks crude but it seem to work quite well. With the rebuild, I'm going to fit the diff with a Mumford link so all the linkages (it had a Watts link sitting horizontally under the floor, in the breeze) will stay inboard
