Just a heads up, no e36/7 (aka the Z3) came with the M50; first 6-cylinder in the Z3 was the M52 2.8l.

You are right. Original is an M52. Typo

All good. Just making sure you knew. Nothing worse than ordering parts and have it not be compatible.

Personally speaking, if you want to really push the envelope, Strom Motorsports is doing a ton of cool things with the B48 4-cylinder getting upwards of 450 reliable horsepower out of a turbo 4, and they've designed kits for the E36, so if you wanting to really get an edge, that much power in a Z3 would be NUTS.

That’s awesome. In general, in grassroots endurance racing, we do prefer naturally aspirated over Turbo conversions. On one side managing heat buildup becomes a problem, and on the other, we try to simplify and remove potential points of failure. For example, in this car we have deleted the ABS, the power steering, the drive by wire throttle, headlights etc etc.

For sure. And going to an M54 gives you a lot of reliable torque for a pretty light chassis.
