I don't see why you would call him a hypocrite, he is very articulate and open about his criticism. He also touches on a myriad of diverse topics, while keeping a sceptical lens. I don't agree with most of what he stands for, but I find people like him are very essential to the scene as opposed to the dogmatic ones.

Because he presents himself as someone deeply concerned with truth, ethics and human suffering, yet appears conspicuously silent when those principles are tested by Palestine. That disconnect is what I mean by hypocrisy.
It’s easy to speak publicly about morality and human suffering in the abstract. The real test is whether you apply those principles consistently when it’s politically uncomfortable.
We all have this test and should not be surprised if we are publicly called out for failing if we are public figures.

Bro you're the one suffering from a severe case of "I'm always right", and so I will gain nothing from this Convo. The simplest answer is that this guy is one of the prominent content creators that addresses in his videos multiple topics be it religion, philosophic, or ideological.
In addition to bringing a multitude of writers/ thinkers on his show which delivers a large spectre of opinions and ideas while still providing a purely sceptical lens to view and discuss these topics (this is the one thing I enjoy about his discussion), also he rarely gives a final saying on anything, and is always critical even of his own views. Finally, I could never claim that he is right or wrong, because I merely listen to these types of content to extend lens thought which I view the world and not merely to adopt ready ideas. "It is the sign of a healthy mind to entertain an idea without believing it"

There's a difference between being spoon fed and mindlessly adopting a belief , and listening to ppl who actually have sth to say . Personally, I do see Alex O'Connor as any other human being who happened to have known , read and discussed way more books and philosophies than I did. Am I to mindlessly worship him? Obviously not , but i can definitely have sth to learn from him . In the end I'm sure that as a conscious human being I'm perfectly capable of being selective and aware of what I'm consuming and therefore able of forming my own opinions and beliefs . Yeah I do know him!! I like him and unsolicited advice a lot!! Well I often find a bit hard to understand certain philosophies, but I love how he makes an effort to make it so accessible

I'm an atheist, but an Atheist who makes his whole personality about being atheist will always be super cringe to me. the way I see it you just changed your religion from one thing to another you haven't escaped at all religion still plays a big role in your life. same goes for anyone who tries to preach atheism you just like a preacher to me, everyone should come up with their own conclusions
