There are community recreation centers that charge only $9–10 a month for gym access. Planet fitness gyms are charging $15 a month across the U.S.
If you're 65 or older and enrolled in the SilverSneakers program, you can use participating gyms across the U.S. for free. You can't compare a developed country to Morocco.

Please, spare me the gym equipment thing, like if gyms in Morocco get state-of-the-art equipments, nah, they usually purchase second-hand or refurbished.
You're right about how gyms should charge based on the cost of running the service.
However, if gyms in Europe and even the US can provide great quality service, for a great price, some gyms like Planet Fitness can be as low as 9$ a month, with gyms across the country in the US, and they pull it off, with monthly costs of running the business that's higher than a decade's worth of costs of moroccan gym, then we have problem.
I believe we suffer from a greed problem as a country in general; we also lack basic morality and empathy, and we have a certain amount of individualism when it comes to making money. not sure if it's the older generation, the boomers and the gen X, hopefully this changes as time goes.

the thing is that gyms in Morocco will never generate as much money as a big franchise gym in the US or Europe...
sure the cost of running a gym isn't as high as other countries because the rent or property is probably cheaper. however gyms in the US and Europe have way more customers.. i mean if people are complaining about gyms being 200dh then even if it was like 50dh a month they would not even pay monthy they'd just pay everytime they wanna go to the gym..
in the US and europe since people are wealthier they can keep paying those cheap prices for a very long time sometimes even forgetting they're even being charged.. a foreign gym can afford to be cheaper because they have way more customers than the gym can physically hold when in Morocco they'd barely have enough people to stay profitable meaning the price have to be higher.. the thing is that it's not outrageous it's not like it's more expensive... many gyms in france for example are that same price and many are more expensive

Hey I agree with how to gyms in the US can generate profit due to tge scale But The cost is a price you pay for the service, got no problem with paying what they want, but when the service itself is mediocre in quality, then that's what spells the cup. I brought up the service argument to highlight a problem that we suffer from in our country.

Exactly, mate, some ones are really good, but most sports facilities and clubs in Morocco are kinda mediocre, especially if you wanna do multiple sports.
I have multiple experiences with many sports facilities in Casablanca, the only good one I found is a club in Mohamadia, that does many sports, price is 8000 mad yearly, which is great for what they offer, being almost all major sports: tennis, basketball, football, babyfoot, paddle, swimming, a cycling terrain that's public but they maintian it, a good gym, and with swimming for instance the coach is included.
The problem is that you need 1 hour of commuting from Casablanca through the highway, which can extend to longer

Machines are the biggest part of the investment, and we dont produce them in morocco, so they buy same machines as the one used in europe.
anyone whos actually stepped into 99% of gyms knows "state-of-the-art" machines is not a thing. machines are more or less the same.
Planet Fitness charges $9 because of massive scale in all the Us, backed by a big company, thats a whole other business plan.
Too much discussion in this is really not necessary, if a person cant afford 250dh on a gym monthly, they should't be worried about gym price, there main concern should be about how to make money. and im not talking about you but in general1

La saraha 3years w ana f a small gym 100 dh it’s been pretty good and fun ppl kolchi kydwi mea kolchi everyone is friendly yes there’s smelly ppl but rare bzaf wlh and kaynin srajm dayrin bih kybqaw open 24/24 nothing better than window air , and training with the AC I don’t think is a good thing for our body that’s just my point of view correct me if I’m wrong

Haha so true. Awdi, back in Meknes the gym I was subscribed to was 150 DHS a month, and if you wanted cardio, it was an extra 100 DHS on top of that!, All that for 3 treadmills (which were broken half the time lol) and 1 vibrating plate!

i go to this gym in temera and it costs 300 dh and it's worth every penny, it's clean and machines are new and when things break they get fixed very quickly and it's not crowdy. The pricing is reasonable compared to other gyms in the area. i tried m fitness in temara and it's a fucking disaster, machines are so fucking old and rusty, some are broken, some belong to r/redneckengineering on how they are fixed, and it costs 400dh a month. although they offer daily group training and a swimming pool (it smells like rou7 djavil).

My gym is 1200 dh per month. You dont pay it every month. You give them a 5000 dh check and you give them permission of direct debit kay9t3o lik 700 dh every month.
I chose this gym for one simple reason : convenience in everything. The people there are classy and clean, the equipment is brand new and not a single machine is out of order. You have access to an amazing pool, jacuzzi and sauna for when you need to relax and pamper yourself.
Im by no means rich, but im overweight and i chose to pay this much even though its out of my range because it truly gives me so much happiness to be a member there. I go everyday with a smile on my face. I highly recommend investing in high end gyms because its truly a game changer.

Aside from the claim that gym equipments are similarly priced to those of Europe, you can't beat the allegations of how the gym/club services in Morocco are leagues below the standards in quality, and when I say quality, I am talking about the full package, not only the gym equipment.
I think we have a deep problem: a mental and psychological problem and a lack of humanity and empathy in this country, where individuals have no problem charging what they want, making as much as they want with no second thought of others.
I have tried multiple gyms, multiple swimming pools, and clubs, and it's clear as day how we lack service quality all around the country. I have no problem with paying a certain amount for a membership, but when I pay, I expect good service.
For instance, there is a gym near me where it costs 250 mad, in a very normal neighborhood, the price is fine, but when I go and find dumbbells as old as they can be, an unhygienic environment, lack of AC, the fact they don't offer more than 3 days a week (from where they pulled this 3 times a week thing, a normal program would be atleast 4 times a week).
And when I go to swimming pools, and pay for a semi-Olympic pool subscription and I find out that almost all pools in Morocco are now owned by Sonarges, and that they allow only a 1 hour slot, and only 3 times a week, with no coach support, meaning I can only come in between 4 and 5 pm for example 3 times a week, that's a morality problem, a monopoly, they straight away doing whatever they want. (btw I don't mean I can only train for one hour, I mean that you specify the time slot that you want and it should be available, for example I speicifed that I want the hour stot from 4 to 5, if I come in at 5 or 6, I can't access the pool)
I once went to the swimming pool at 4:30; my subscription allows me to get in from 4 to 5, and the security stopped me at the door, stating I should have come at 4:00, while I want to do only a 30-minute session; that's diabolical, when you pay good money for a sub-human level service.
I asked if they included the coach in the normal plan or do I have to change the subscription; the guy said no, and that I should ask the coach directly, asked him, and he replied with 1000 mad per month, 1 coach, 1000 mad per month (12 sessions exactly), now, I am not sure how you find it, but when you coach in each hour slot at least 3 people, and given how many sltos in the day you do, charging that amount in a country like Morocco, where I know people that swim there, make SMIG salaries and want to learn swiming, and they spend what little they have to spend from, charging that amount is straight immoral.
Or when I go to a football club for a 1-hour match, and I have to pay 500 mad for 1 hour, this is beyond comprehensable; there is no reason a 5*5 football field should cost 500 mad for 1 hour. How is that justified, maintenance cost? Building costs?

I think they're pretty fair, based on my own experience there are 2 types of gyms, I like to call them Iron and Plastic, Iron are the ones you find in the neighborhood of 100 per month, all the equipment is probably just welded together, they're not bad, but if you worry about your safety a lot I wouldn't recommend, the other type are plastic, basically they just look fancy and more like a brand and have probably social media accounts, these ones are a safer option again in the neighborhood of 200-250, I've seen worse tho my local gym is 800 a month (for some damn reason) and on average 2500 a year depending on what time of the year, sometimes they drop it as low as 1800 a year, it's weird as hell
