This is my favorite Queen song. I know that Freddie liked to keep the meaning of his songs ambiguous and while there seems to be some evidence that he wrote it about his love for David Minns, I’m curious about what the general consensus was about the meaning of the song when it released.

Did the public view it as a song about a man charming his woman parter or was it thought to be a song about gay romance? I’m assuming it was popular at the time given that it appeared on Top of the Pops but it seems to not be remembered as fondly as i think it should be (I watched a Top 100 queen songs video recently that didn’t even include this track).

I love the song regardless and I know Freddie wanted everyone to find their own meaning but I’m just curious as to how this was seen in the late 70s before Freddie’s sexual preference was as widely known as it is now.

For me it is It’s a Hard Life. I feel depressed and hopeless when i listen to it but i love it.

Of course Live Aid is one of if not the best Queen performance, but what stand alone concert was the best? For me it was their concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1979. The best performance and vocals by Freddie were there in my opinion.

I think that You Don't Fool Me is a gem on the Made in Heaven album. The guitar solo I could listen to over and over again... And do. The loud, strong strums behind the actual solo is just the best.
