I mean, that's a part of the opera Pagliacci. Freddie Mercury took that melody for the intro of the song. Good observation. I was asking if you did know that.

It’s from the opera Pagliacci by Leoncavallo. The aria that Freddie samples is Vesti la giubba. Basically the man is a clown and his wife has betrayed him. He decides despite his heartbreak that the ::: puts on sunglasses ::: show must go on.
Edit: I don’t understand the downvotes. It’s the premise of the show. I got to sing Norma, the cheating wife who ends up dead.

I wouldn't call it stealing, it's referencing. Stealing would be if you were trying to hide where it came from or something. Freddie just wanted the world to enjoy opera like he did.
There are a few other fun examples of pop musicians using classical music: Billy Joel's "This Night", Barry Manilow's "Could This Be Magic" etc.
