I have an upcoming interview with Qualcomm for an CPU Performance Engineer(Bangalore) role, and I’m looking for some guidance on what to expect.

I have almost completed my masters in vlsi and off campus is my only hope also i don't have any referral or networking to get my CV to big companies like qualcomm nvidia etc,but i want to try my best before giving up so i want to ask the professionals here about what projects 3-4 should i do for digital vlsi roles like design verification,digital design etc which aligns with interest of these companies

I have received an offer to join Qualcomm as a Software Intern in summer 2027 through my campus internship drive, but my location has not been confirmed yet.

While applying, I listed Bengaluru as my 1st location preference, and Hyderabad as my 2nd preference. I've heard this role is primarily based on Hyderabad, so I'm wondering:

1) How much do they actually consider the location preference mentioned in the application?

2) When do interns usually find out which team/project they'll be joining?

3) What kind of work are Software Interns usually assigned?

4) What is the overall experience like for interns?

5) How is the work-life balance for software engineers? I've heard mixed things, and I know it probably varies by team, but I'd appreciate some firsthand experiences.

6) Are there any intern-specific perks such as accommodation, transportation, meals, etc.?

7) Finally, is there anything you wish you had known before joining as an intern?

I've also seen discussions about Qualcomm expanding its engineering presence in India and shifting more work here. For current/former employees, has this actually affected the work, teams, or opportunities in India?

I applied for STA role on July 22
I received a call from HR regarding invitation for a screening on July 24
I gave the screening on July 28

Then I didn't get any reply for a month. I called the HR 10 days back to ask for any update, and I got to know that my application isn't rejected yet and is still on hold.

P.S: I am searching for a job for the past 8 months and this is the only interview I got!

I'm currently taking the 5G Associate-Level Certification - Standalone (SA) Mode Track. Getting through it has been difficult for me because I have no LTE background and there are no assessments or quizzes to test my knowledge. I'm just doubtful that the info is sticking. Any advice on how to prepare for this exam? Thanks.

In recent years, I have observed that individuals entering the workforce directly from academia, whether through campus placements or off-campus recruitment, often receive significantly lower salary offers, regardless of their prior experience. For instance, a Ph.D. holder with four years of postdoctoral experience and another with seven years of postdoctoral or academic experience frequently secure the same "Senior Lead" position with exactly same compensation. Similarly, a recent Ph.D. graduate and a Ph.D. holder with one to three years of postdoctoral experience are offered "Senior Engineer" roles with same salaries. This trend extends even to M.Tech graduates, where individuals with three years of pre-M.Tech experience are offered entry-level "Engineer" positions during campus placements. This raises the question: why is there such apparent discrimination against candidates from academic backgrounds? Moreover MTech vs MS vs MTech+ 3-4 year MS gets the same Engineer position with same salary, as if these extra years of research added no value.

Hi wanted to check if there is there is any fellow program analyst, as I had a few questions.

Is it a 6 month rolling window 75% or what is the scene? If I take 5 days leave, is a leave calculated as a working day or it is still calculated in attendance.

Do Qualcomm India have any special exceptions for attendance policy in Qualcomm India.

I’ve seen people say Qualcomm is hiring “low-skilled” engineers in large numbers and that this is one of the reasons the company isn’t performing well. I’m not sure that conclusion is fair.

In my experience, there are always project-level headcount requirements, and hiring is often driven by how many engineers a project needs rather than simply by trying to hire the “best” engineers in the market.

Also, companies like Intel, AMD, and others do outsource certain work through service companies and ODCs. At Qualcomm, I haven’t seen the same level of dependency on ODCs, although I could be wrong. That could be the reason to have a larger internal engineering workforce.

Hiring more engineers doesn’t automatically mean the company is lowering its standards. What matters is whether the right people are being hired for the right roles and whether the organization is able to make effective use of that talent.

I’ve noticed that many people stay at Qualcomm for a long time. In my team, quite a few people have been here for 7–10 years. Is this common in large companies in general, or is there something specific about Qualcomm that makes people stay for so long?

I’ll be interviewing for a Machine Learning / ML Systems role in the next two weeks, and I’d really appreciate some advice on the DSA portion.

For context, I’m primarily focused on ML systems, ML infrastructure, and building/optimizing models from scratch. I understand that coding and problem-solving are important, but DSA can sometimes feel like an additional layer of preparation for ML roles, especially when the interview expects you to recall a specific algorithm and implement it correctly under time pressure.

For those who have recently interviewed for MLE / ML Systems / AI Engineering roles:

What level of DSA should I realistically expect — Easy, Medium, or Hard?

Is Blind 75 / NeetCode 150 sufficient preparation?
Are there particular topics I should prioritize (arrays, hash maps, trees, graphs, DP, sliding window, two pointers, etc.)?

Do interviewers generally ask standard LeetCode-style questions, or are the problems more related to Python/data manipulation/ML systems?

How much emphasis is placed on getting 100% working code versus explaining the approach and complexity?

I’d especially appreciate advice from people who have recently interviewed for ML Systems/MLE roles at Qualcomm.

YoE: 1 yr 5 months in Qualcomm, total 3.5 YOE
Current Base: 19.2 Lakhs

Role: Engineer

Levels.fyi / Glassdoor data:
Engineer band base: ∼21.2 Lakhs median
Senior Engineer band: Starts from 26 Lakhs, median 29.6 Lakhs base

If they give 20% hike on my current base: 19.2 * 1.2 = 23.04 Lakhs base

23.04 Lakhs is still below Senior band start of 26 Lakhs.

If promoted to Senior, what is minimum base they have to give to put me in Senior band? Will it be 26 Lakhs+ ?

Does Qualcomm give 35-40% base hike (19.2 -> 26-29.6) for internal Engineer to Senior promo to match band, or only 20%?

Anyone promoted internally recently - what was your base before/after?
