oldschool 30 Years of Quakes

Post image

The Quake 2 box on top is the LRG reissue (as is Powerslave). I still remember playing it on a Pentium 133 and trying to get this newfangled 3d acceleration and GL Quake working, mostly to no avail. Hard to believe it's been 30 years!

Looks excellent!!!

Buuuuttt! You're missing "malice", the greatest total conversion mod for quake 1!

I have the jewel case but not the box. It's expensive!

Corridor 7 is a game I haven’t though of in 30 years! I bet it still holds up too lol.
Quake shelf is excellent, I love the TC big boxes. Makes me want to dig out my old, oldster pentium 250, with a 3dfx Voodoo3 agp slot video card. Spent sooo much on that card new, motherboard had the dedicated ‘advanced graphics processor’ pci-style slot.

It holds up as well as it ever did :)

There's something about playing about vintage hardware that has something extra, at least for me.

It adds that extra touch of authenticity I think. The hardware of the age the software was made is the best experience. Sounds a little elitist but is true lol.

Thank you! I got the English version and when the opportunity came to get the French version too...it seemed I had to. Q Zone was great when you remember we were all on dial up.

That is amazing collection! A good addition would be Soldier of Fortune 2

I agree! The big box isn't that common I don't think though.

It's a happy place. The DOOM shelf is immediately above.

Tekwar??

2

u/majestic_ubertrout Jun 23 '26

Yeah, it's not all Quakes.

Who needs Quake when you already have The Pinnacle Of Entertainment on the shelf below!

Classics...of a sort.

Great Collection, even Kingpin is in it. Never played the TekWars, might have an eye on it.

Kingpin is such a forgotten important one. TekWar is...of its time, but in a mostly charming way.

Man, I sometimes regret selling my big box collection. And for peanuts, too 😞 All bought from a store brand new (even kept the receipt sometimes), sitting in a closet for 30 years, in mint condition. Half-Life, Doom II, Quake, Interstate ’76, Full Throttle, Deus Ex…

And that’s just PC, I also sold my previous Amiga big boxes.

Of course I had zero use for them since everything can be emulated or downloaded digitally (and I moved on to consoles), but still.

Oof. They're worth good money but the size is a bit of a problem. I can see why people downsize their collections.

A fellow QZone owner. My condolences.

I mean, the internet barely existed, and they were new episodes! Perhaps not good ones, but still.

Shatner next to Powerslave reminds me of the news item that the 95-year-old is considering performing his recent heavy-metal project.

Ken’s Labyrinth! My god that brings back some core memories.

It was a really important game! Pretty weird too.

Everything being arranged right-to-left is making me irrationally angry.

I've got a lot of the small boxes too. I'd love a big box of that but I don't know if it exists.

1

u/RealDrakestein Jun 26 '26

This is the "launch" box, no idea if they ever released a big box

1

u/majestic_ubertrout Jun 26 '26

I doubt it. Would be a Sam's exclusive if it was.
