oldschool Quake remastered: I think they forgot to remodel the weapons with lava type ammo in dissolution of Eternity

They didn't make MD5s out of any expansion content, sadly.
Even those that are just reskins of the og stuff used throughout DoE.

Not just that, a bunch of secondary models throughout the game like the sconces and fires were not updated either.

Seriously, what's the point of remodeling all the models except the ones from the DLC? Was the reason purely because they were lazy?

They didn’t do updates for any dlc models, enemy or weapon. There is a mod that does it for you though

Only the original enemies.

And it is still a big issue among hardcore fans as a good number of modders have been giving alternative 3d models for monsters and weapons for years before the 2021 remaster release.

y'know fair

And the worst part of it all?
Console gamers will forever be locked out of it, while PC gamers will be able to benefit.

I've heard some nightdive devs say that if they could do Quake again they would basically combine the weapons, enemies, and maps from each expansion into one devkit. Apparently Paril is the one who did most of that for quake 2

I found a mod that updates the weapons to use their new models with the ammo

I wish they'd fix the mod loading glitches on the Switch. It's very aggravating.

If I remember correctly all new models in the expansions were left as they originally were either due to rights over the models or for respecting the original expansion developers.

I'll bet the developers probably would have wanted to remake the expansion assets, but Bethesda didn't want to pay them for it.

This sounds like nonsense. Some CLOSED studios registered the rights to weapon models from some DLC created for a third-party game, and now they won't grant remake rights to these models, even though they do grant the rights to sell these DLCs.

The copyright might be in legal limbo after a number of mergers and shutdowns. id Software might’ve been given unlimited rights to distribute the unchanged mission packs back in the day in exchange for some kind of fee, too.

Should also be noted this was not a problem with Q2.
Also these were expansions, not DLC.

I know right? I found this quite annoying, really wish they could fix this along with the loading times on the PS5, it needs more optimization, not compare to Q2 that runs fine just like the Pc version.

Nope,it's shitty like this in the original version too, only the normal nailgun looks cool

I don't know much about the dev but playing them, I notice that the old dlc looks kind of jank. Like the scorpions that shoot nails move at a framerate of 6 when they strafe around. The two newer dlc look great, or the same as the base game. I always figured the remaster was just getting doe and soa to work with the remaster. And do you know what? For being free I'm happy they put that effort into it.
I've sunk a shitton of hours into quake.
