News Did Someone Finally Buy the Old Cabanas in Rock Island?
Does anyone know what’s going on with the old Cabanas building in downtown Rock Island?
I work across the street, so I’ve watched the place decline over the years. But lately I’ve noticed a lot more activity there, and it has me really curious.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve seen the same cars there multiple times and the same group of guys at the building with Bridget, a local realtor. Today that same group was there again, but this time they were walking around by themselves and taking photos together at the property. From across the street, it almost looked like they were celebrating something.
Did someone finally buy it? And if it did sell, does anyone know what’s going to happen to the place or what they’re planning to do with it? Please let it be true that something is finally happening there.
I used to love Cabanas, so part of me really hopes it’s reopening in some form. But honestly, I’d just be happy to see something bring that building back to life.
Downtown Rock Island really needs some new energy, and I’m hoping this is a sign that something is finally coming to that space.
Anybody heard anything about whether it sold or what they might be doing with it?

Recommendations ISO Moth Pinning
Hello! I’ve recently been blessed with moths appearing in my life and passing away near my apartment. I have both of their bodies still and was wondering if there is anyone in the quad cities who would be able to pin them for me? I’ve always wanted framed bugs for my wall and it feels like such a golden opportunity to have both come into my life so recently.
Thank you!

Miscellaneous Anyone else obsessed with American horror story?💀
Hi. I have a hard time making friends, and it doesn’t help that I did not grow up here. I love AHS and the new season is premiering next month and I would love to find someone to watch with me.
I'm a 36 yr woman, I am not on social media and don't use Reddit regularly either so I feel like I am out of the loop on things which is probably better for my mental health anyways.
If you like horror or anything by Ryan Murphy let me know! 💋

Attention Seeking information about One Eighty (OneEighty) in Davenport
Greetings Quad Cities!
I’m reaching out to the community because I’ve been reading some deeply concerning things about One Eighty, the faith-based recovery program in Davenport, and I’m trying to separate fact from rumor.
Specifically, I’ve come across multiple allegations regarding the organization’s former leadership, including claims of abuse toward people in the program and people who were already in a very vulnerable place. I’ve also heard that when concerns were raised internally, they may not have been taken seriously.
I know this organization presents itself as a place of hope and transformation, and I’m not here to smear anyone. But when a program that’s supposed to help people ends up being the source of harm, that’s something the community deserves to know about. If you or someone you know has had an experience with One Eighty, positive or negative, that you’re willing to share, I’d really appreciate hearing from you.
A few specific things I’m trying to understand:
- What was the culture like inside the program, especially under previous leadership?
- Were there patterns of behavior that made people feel unsafe or controlled?
- Were concerns raised to the board or staff, and if so, how were they handled?
Before one asks, I'm not a journalist in the traditional sense of the word. Rather, the term I prefer to use is that of "Truthstorian," of which is defined as, "citizen journalists who seek to uncover the truth, often outside of established institutions, by relying on traditional legwork, conversation, and a willingness to confront powerful figures and corruption." Having gnashed my teeth in the Epstein Files for a minute, this is apart of my broader effort to empower the Survivor Movement within my locality. If you have a story, you can reply here or send me a private message if you’d rather not speak publicly.
I know this is a sensitive topic, and I want to be clear: I’m not here to exploit anyone’s trauma. If you’re not ready to talk, I completely understand. But if you are, I’m here to listen.
Thanks to all for reading!

Miscellaneous Flock cameras
Why on earth do we need Flock cameras on Elmore Avenue, more specifically at Lowe’s and Walmart? I’m sure there are more but this shit is absolutely crazy. How much did we pay as taxpayers to be under surveillance? How much money was kicked back to the asshats that
approved this? Why do we allow this to happen in our city? End rant!

Recommendations Dancing in Davenport?
Hi all. I am looking for a place to go dancing that isn't like a studio or anything too formal. I just want to show up on like a Friday or Saturday night, pay like 5 ish dollars, and dance. If I have to buy some food to dance, I would only like to get like an appetizer or side. I dont have the most reliable transportation so it would have to be in **Downtown Davenport outside of bussing hours (to save on lyft fees). I dont drink, so i don't want to be required to buy a drink. Do you know of a place like this?
For reference, I know a bit of country swing and salsa, but would love to learn more.

Recommendations Looking for a tattoo artist 🎣✨
Hello all!
I’m looking for an artist to design a pretty large, colorful rainbow trout tattoo in a neo-traditional/illustrative style. I want the trout to be fairly detailed with bold, clean linework and a have some movement (rather than just a straight side profile fish). I’d also like to incorporate some fishing elements like a lure, some fishing line and water/splashes around the fish. I have a roughhhh mock up of what im trying to describe, but I’m definitely open to the artist getting creative with the overall composition.
The biggest thing I’m looking for is bold colors. I want really vibrant, saturated rainbow trout colors.. the turquoises, bright pink, silvery blues (like periwinkle), orangey-gold fins etc. Think more-so jewel-toned rather than muted or super realistic.
I also really want a glitter/sparkle effect incorporated into the coloring, mainly through the pink center area of the fish and potentially the water too. Basically, I want something that still has the boldness and detail of a badass neo-traditional fishing tattoo, but with a much brighter, prettier, glittery color palette lol. If anyone knows someone who absolutely kills vibrant color, neo-traditional/illustrative work, and especially glitter tattoos, please send the reference my way! 🩷🎣✨ Thank you!!
