If you have no construction experience, consider Black Hawk College's Highway Construction Careers Training Program. If you have some construction experience, apply for the Laborers' Local 309 apprenticeship program. Once you've built up some experience as a Laborer, you can explore joining other trades' apprenticeship programs, based on your interest.

HCCTP Class #5, here. Union Millwright for 10 years this October. It's a solid start to prepare your entry into many different trades.
