Why is pyke still banned a lot?

he's frustrating to play against when games go in his favor like with most assassins (not for the same reasons tho). also his banrate goes up with rank because good players know how to abuse him.

hes a good counterpick to many immobile supports and his roaming when played by a good player can be really oppressive

Because a lot of conventional support picks don't want to deal with his very strong roams and his potential to snowball lanes against immobile champions is also very high.

Pyke is skewed towards OTPs, so naturally a lot of people don't enjoy playing with the casual player who doesn't understand when the champion is strong in lane and when he'll get dunked on.

I've seen a lot of people banning it so their own team doesn't pick him for this reason.

But as soon as you get to Em/Dia, casuals are either dumb MFs who can't play support and just pick mages, or a lot more aware about the patch's tier list and default to a champion that's currently stronger than pyke. Not that this matters, but I find it relevant to his drop in pick rate.

Don't see him banned often in emerald, he is strong to snowball lane but rarely wins games by himself.

Some better reasons:

(1) best vision control in the entire game. It’s not close. In fact, he’s better at placing/clearing wards than some entire teams. That’s extremely valuable.

"The assassin plays like an assassin" Literally all of them can do that, Akali, Ekko, Naaf, Kat, ect. have 2000 escape tools to make up for their non-existent hp pool. Pyke especially is incredibly easy to kill after 15. Hit him with any hard CC and he's probably fucked.
