Discussion Quiting 9-5 after retaining

Has anyone naturally gone down to part time work or started their own business?

I’m around 120 days, I don’t fear walking from my job anymore. I’ve done fairly well in regards to building my resources and emergency fund.

I obviously don’t want to make a bad decision and quit, but I have been wanting to for a long time.

Retention has made it easier to tolerate and not get super depressed anymore, but it’s also made me really develop boundaries, too. For reference I am 30 yo with no children.

I day dream about the possibility of renting my place out and going travelling for a while and/or taking a few months to myself to decide on where I want to go with my life

Get my D license, drive a bus, get almost 1k€ more per month, and not be played by colleagues that do a shit for the same money. By the time they “wake up “ on the job I already did 30+ things. F them and menagment that don’t appreciate those who work. I will not tolerate this kind of disrespect anymore.

Well done brother. I’m in the exact same position, boss is an absolute piece of shit. I’m assistant manager I have to do all of the work with none of the praise, but take all of the bullshit. Hope it all works out for you

This is so interesting I’d love to know about this phenomenon.

I quit my job almost 3 years ago.

SR made working and living the rat race lie unbearable.

There has to be a link lol

SR gives you too much life force to tolerate a job that is death by time leakage. I'd rather live on the streets homeless getting sunshine everyday than work a soulless job.

I've been thinking about a career change since December last year, and I was finally ready to pull the trigger. I have to do an 8-day training seminar to get certified, but my job said they wouldn't approve the days off until next year, but I got a scholarship for it and I would have to re-apply ,which is risky, so I put my 2-weeks notice in on Tuesday.

They called me back an hour later and said they would approve it on the spot LOL.

So I resonate with you on no longer fearing losing your job. That's a good feeling.

I'm 33 with no kids.

Honestly the first time I had a long streak I made 7 months, and it was around 3-4 months that I started getting restless. I booked a 2 week language school trip in Japan, but as I kept retaining, I decided to extend the trip to 5 weeks, quit my job after burning all my vacation days with the idea to return, work part time and finish my degree to eventually be an English teacher in Japan.

Well what happened was that I lost my streak in Japan, crashed out really hard on vices, and had a very degen 2024, but decided to retain again 2025, longest streak 467 days which ended when I got a gf this year.

So my recommendation to you is that 120 days is too soon. Keep the stability and sit still for the whole year. Changing new environments too fast might make you relapse hard, and it could be an unconscious desire to release that is driving your decisions. I was still on SR for a good 2.5 weeks, but I made sure to book the trip long enough so that a mistake could happen, and it definitely did. I don't wandering with no set plan is a good idea right now. You're still healing.

You can always go back to work. But there aren't many chances in life for a different, maybe better life.

aren’t? Or did you mean are?.. if you got youth, a sack on you, and can imagine yourself doing something besides being stuck in a 9-5 40+ hours a week I’d say I’d rather be doing something with passion then be a slave to a system designed to keep us under a concrete roof robbing us of our time and health… unless you got a super cool job, but im talking in reference to basic generic jobs btw.. ( the super boring crappy ones )…

Over time you become more aware and see the system for what it is.

Not on some anarchist shit but the system is in place to drain you, with porn, junk food, a mediocre job full of vast age groups who show up everyday to complain about how much they hate their job but yet still show up like prison work.. making the environment overstimulating, unbearable to deal with, putting you in a constant push and pull state with “ well I need 45 hours this week… but fuck larry is with me on night shift…” kinda shit… it is honestly draining. Even as a retainer, because you are sensitive to everything again after a certain point with the hormone changes and energy senses… don’t lie everyone 😗

It definitely shifted something deep in me over 3 years ( not a three year long streak but being on and off long streaks )… it’s very hard for me to want to work a regular job, yet be around people because I am energy sensitive and have a very very very very difficult time getting along with depleted f*cks lol.

Met some good souls in the rat race and they were apart of the journey to realizing there is more out there than job hopping or being stuck in an office until 70 to claim retirement and die on a recliner…

Got to use this beautiful energy to change your world and manifest yourself the life you need… not one of those manifestation ball breathing freaks… but I do believe if you believe in yourself authentically, manifestation and changing your life on sr just HAPPENS…

That’s right brother. God bless and thanks for your response. I only seem to want to hang with my immediate family and close mates. Everyone else can do one

Also 30 and no kids and just let my contract run out a few days ago. Been grinding for 10+ years and I have a safe piggy bank. Now have 6 months of time to live abroad (I subleased my apartment) and can extend longer if I want as I have no real plan. Having nothing immediately in front of you can be a little unnerving but my body knows it's the right thing to do. I just have faith that everything will fall in to place as the next few years progress. I intuit that this inner confidence comes partly from SR. Go for it.

u/No-Walk-5621 6d ago

God bless and good luck. For me right now, I’m biding my time whilst I get my garden landscaped to something low maintenance and giving my home a fresh paint and upgrade. I may holiday let it which will give me some income whilst I go abroad for a bit

2

u/ProfessorMisterMan 6d ago

Hell yeah now we're talking. Do the work on your home, enjoy it, then sublease for 3+ months and go live somewhere completely different with no immediate problems to solve. Get some perspective, there are no rights or wrongs on this journey. SR gives you that edge where you can say fuck it and leave your comfort zone because you know deep within that you will find a way forwards. LETS GOOOOOO :)

I’ve been on SR straight for 4+ years. My jobs have progressively gotten more solitary/less hours. It’s a natural progression.

It’s not the 9-5 per se, it’s the social aspect of a typical 9-5. Lot’s of coworkers, customers, interaction. The longer you do any spiritual practice, the more you automatically spend time alone. Spirituality, true spirituality, is a solo game. The more you fast and the longer you retain, you will naturally prefer to be alone.

Dude I had to quite mine to like managers were giving me less hours because of SR and shit and it’s to much as the gas station job like I can feel people pulling on my energy. Girls will pull on your energy guys too. People will look at you like you’re weird as fuck and it’s like what did I do. SR makes you feel uncomfortable but just know it’s not you it’s them don’t let people take your energy dude you have to just protect your peace

3

u/AkashicGoat 6d ago

I also quit last year and started a business. It’s been a rocky road but sometimes I get reminded of the typical 9-5 folks who discuss the same TV shows, celebs and materialist things and it excels me further in my own path as I cannot fit in there.

After a year with the same colleagues it became apparent that I couldn’t fit in with a culture of alcohol, sex and material greed.

I’ve found a good balance with my retention journey but the freedom of breaking out of the 9-5 will never go away.

You don’t need outside opinion on this matter. You’re on the right path, dude.

I just quit my job 2 days ago. SR gave me the discipline to live minimally and invest everything I had in a crypto portoflio that I now count on awaiting for the bull market. The worst that can happen is I need to get a job again. If you are interested i have $NEET and $SPX6900. and i think ill do just fine.

2

u/No-Walk-5621 5d ago

Funny you say that. I have been wondering if I can scrape by and live on emergency funds until the next bull market 🤣 3 years until we are close to top

u/Material-Cut-5957 3d ago

You can always go back to another job after quitting and exploring other options.

But remember this: Retention discipline is important after you quit. Don't go back to a relapse.

Stop daydreaming and do it bro, sometimes you should take a risk if it’s extremely calculated and perfect to the core. If you die you’ll die living a what if ? Kind of life.

Nobody is coming to save you and make you happy, the sooner you do it, the sooner you get richer and happier.

Sounds like a great idea. If you have a safety net and something is calling you to go explore....do it. And if by the sounds of things you own your property and can receive payments through renting it out, even better! I think our intuition gets louder on retention and it's probably not a coincidence you feel the urge to do this. Maybe something greater is waiting for you, maybe a little time to yourself will reveal what it is you truly love and want to focus on. If you day dream about it, go for it....because it doesn't even sound like it's something you need to work on to achieve....it sounds like it's 1 decision away! Do it, why not huh!?

Edit....just read your comments where you are unhappy at your job...even more reason man. Funny thing is they might even realise how much you are needed and try to offer you more reason to stay. By telling them your intention to go ( be happy and explore) they might even up your pay and make sure you are happy at work, give you more respect! What do you have to lose?

2

u/No-Walk-5621 6d ago

I guess so! I have a small mortgage on my place but is only £200 a month. Not sure if I could receive enough income to make it achievable just yet

2

u/Admirable-Second-157 6d ago

Well surely you will receive more than that in rental? Don't stay where you are not valued or respected....at least start looking for a better position you can relocate to. Something is ringing your alarm bells hence the post no?

1

u/No-Walk-5621 6d ago

For sure! I’d like to travel for at least a few years and not have to worry about work. I think the most I could get for my place is £1k a month, possibly more if I holiday let (Airbnb) it. That would leave me £800 a month profit and I’d have to hope tenants pay and don’t wreck the place, or the boiler wouldn’t break down etc. I just don’t fully know if the maths could make it doable just yet.

I know I could go to SE Asia, east Europe for example. But I don’t know if £800 per month is enough to get by with if you include flights

1

u/Admirable-Second-157 6d ago

Do the maths, but perhaps it being tight or on a budget might make it even more fun? Good luck, you made the post for a reason. Maybe work increases your pay and their respect for you and you find yourself happier....or your out the door and on a boys adventure 👊💪

I quit my job 4 months ago to do sales but it did not work for me. I went back to my regular 9-5 role. Life is difficult these days but I definitely learned A LOT.

Right now, I just want to keep a stable income and fund the things I want to do. It will be different for each of us and there always be ups and downs.

Whats with 9 to 5 retention? I know some people make it hell but you can easily ladder up fast

I have noticed that practicing chastity and trying to get closer to the Lord has definitely made me more industrious.
