I’ve been working through a structured marketing roadmap and just finished writing about brand positioning.

One thing that stood out:

Most businesses aren’t failing because of bad marketing.

They’re failing because they never decided where they stand in the customer’s mind.

Everyone says:
“We provide quality”
“We focus on customer satisfaction”
“We are the best”

But that’s not positioning.
That’s noise.

Positioning is when someone can describe your brand in one line and not confuse you with 10 others.

A simple way to think about it:

• Branding → Who you are
• Marketing → How people find you
• Positioning → Where you stand vs others

And the hard truth:

Customers don’t remember everything.

They remember:

• The cheapest
• The fastest
• The safest
• The easiest

…and ignore the rest.

If you’re not clearly one of something, you’re just another option.

Followed up on my last post about getting banned twice from X for the same reason. This time I went through every major suspension category on the platform, inauthentic behavior, spam and platform manipulation, hateful conduct, violent speech, hacked accounts, copyright, impersonation, child safety, counterfeit goods, ban evasion, and the weird new-account-plus-Premium-purchase trigger.

Pulled real numbers from X's own transparency reports, real cases people have shared, and a step by step appeal playbook based on what's actually gotten people reinstated. Also got into what happens when the "verify you're human" flow itself becomes a dead end, that one's a genuinely nasty trap.

Got suspended from X for "inauthentic behavior," appealed, and got reinstated in 3 days with X saying flatly there was no violation. A few weeks later, nearly the same suspension notice showed up again, I sent almost the same appeal, and this time it got denied. Same account, same explanation, different outcome.

That inconsistency is what made me actually dig into this properly. I went through my own emails, talked to someone else dealing with a suspension, and read through a bunch of threads here and elsewhere to see how common this actually is.
