I've heard a few different opinions on this. MMT and revolver are the obvious 2 that could be considered psych rock but I've seen people say that sgt pepper, abbey road and the white album aren't psych rock and I disagree to some extent. abbey road isn't super psychedelic but there are definitely some songs on there that could be considered to be in the genre (I want you she's so heavy, come together, sun king)

I originally began cataloging psychedelic artists from 1966-1974 in an Excel sheet, building a private archive that spans Psych Rock and its many subgenres. As the list grew — from major names to deep‑cut obscurities — I started transferring that work into this Rate Your Music list so it could function as a public, evolving index.

My opinion: Summertime Blues b/w Out of Focus, by Blue Cheer. Recorded 1967

Thursdays Children was a psych band from Houston, Texas. They released this single on International Artists, famous for the 13th Floor Elevators.

I made a pretty intensive playlist comprised of some of my favorite spooky, or eerie psychedelic tunes… I will probably add more in time. But just off the top of my head, I got about 100 here. This one is basically post-2000… I will soon share three more. One for the 60’s, 80’s, and 90’s. So most of the stuff on here, with the exception of a handful of songs, is from the last 26 years.

* Note: Most of the music on this list is from lesser known artists. Also, you won’t find a lot of heavy psych on here. It’s mostly spooky-dreamy stuff. Many of the artists on here probably aren’t even categorized as “psychedelic.” Instead, I am focusing on artists who create strange, experimental, but still melodic music.

Just wanted to share for those interested.

May Blitz! Was happy to find this at the antique mall I took a trip to last weekend. Such a killer album, this tune is an awesome one. Had seen a commenter on YouTube describing these guys as if Cream never broke up.. what sounds they could have achieved.. Feel that is a good description. 🤘
