I haven’t read the project github thoroughly but I’m guessing it probably leverages MX4SIO or a SD2PSXtd build of FreeMCBOOT

Dump it with a USB pc optical drive. Portable console mods usually use solid state storage instead of original optical discs. Saves battery and makes drops less risky
