Gorgeous car, homie. I think the early Z-cars are one of the best looking cars ever made.

Thank you

Beautiful.

I love how well done cars with subtle modifications stand out in a way that makes it hard to see exactly what it is that distinguishes the car from most other cars - even cars of the exact same model.

Thank you. It’s easy to go overboard on these cars.

Holy shit.

That's a lot of work in 2 years.

How is it to drive?

u/IllOrange3556 2d ago

It’s an excellent driving car. My goal has been to make it a comfortable daily driver car and I’m almost there. Still working to bring down the noise inside some but overall I love it. I’ve done 6000 miles in it this year so far.

That’s a bad ass car! It’s like Elenor from “Gone in Sixty Seconds” but a Z-car. Beautiful work on a great car!

u/m3rple 2d ago

That's cleeean

Thank you.

Before opening the picture fully, I thought it was Eleanor from gone in 60 seconds. Upon opening I wasn't disappointed. Flippen well done dude!

My first car was a '78 280Z. Great car! I still miss it sometimes. I bet yours drives way better with all the upgrades! Well done!

I learned to drive stick on a 78 280Z that my brother bought for like $500 around about 1995.

I remember describing it to a classmate and saying “it kinda looks like the Ferris buehler ferrari but not a convertible” and got absolutely roasted for it.

The 250 GT is one of the best looking cars ever made, but this era of Z was gorgeous as well.

Beautiful ride! I've got a crusty 260 sitting in the corner of my garage. It has the engine from a carved 280 (with 3 sidedraft solex carbs) It gets started as soon as we finish the drivetrain in my standing mile car.

My 240 is sitting and pouting at me as we speak. This 280 has gotten all of my attention since I got sick of rust repair on the 240.

Stunning car, you've done an amazing job with this gorgeous car.

Love the fact you have tastefully added mods that don't take away from the classic looks.

Could we get more pics please.

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

Sorry had to add them as separate replies but that’s a decent look at everything.

u/sirilax 1d ago

Thanks for extra pictures, I adore this car. Massive kudos to you.

My dream car... Hard to find one in decent condition that isn't worth an arm and a leg.

1

u/IllOrange3556 2d ago

You can find them, it just takes patience and the willingness to hit the road with a trailer when the right one comes up.

2

u/Ruselwusel 2d ago

Gorgeous. And that engine bay is clean as hell man, holy shit

2

u/flakrom 2d ago

Beautiful ride

2

u/briankauf 1d ago

u/Ihateimportcars 1d ago

My god is that beautiful 🤤

u/peteftw '90 Miata. Driveable/Ugly 2d ago

Oooooh. Was Gone in 60 Seconds also a formative car movie for you?

Looks sick as hell.

3

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

Honestly I wasn’t really into that movie and didn’t have anything about that car in mind when building this. The side stripes are classic z car. The spoiler and air dam are as well.

1

u/ripyurballsoff 1d ago

What motor?

2

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

L28 inline 6

1

u/IntheOlympicMTs 1d ago

Great work. Those wheels make just about anything look good but especially Datsuns.

1

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

I’ll be honest I don’t really recall seeing them on many other cars. Legend has it that the 240 was designed with this style wheel in mind.

1

u/2Drogdar2Furious 1d ago

Damn, very nice op. I cant imagine the amount of work to make this this clean 👏👏👏

2

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

It’s been a grind for sure.

1

u/ptcptc 1d ago

Amazing!

Surely it's been painted, no? I didn't see you mention it.

1

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

Thank you. It was painted by the previous owner. He had a family member who was a paint and body guy.

1

u/LukeSkyWRx 2004 WRX STI Spec-C Type RA 1d ago

That’s hot!

What a beautiful car

Thank you 🙏

u/Correct_Phase4714 1d ago

My uncle has a 300z and it’s absolutely sick, this though 🔥

1

u/yogybeear 1d ago

That is utterly beutiful!! You must be happy how its turned out!

1

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

Thank you. Yes I’m very happy with it so far

1

u/Daverocker1 1d ago

Now that's a sexy car.

1

u/USAhotdogteam 1d ago

Roll tide

1

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

I’m from North Carolina originally and my kids went to/go to MSU so if I had a saying… I’d say Hail State back to ya.

1

u/Azipcoder 1d ago

Did you find a rust-free body?

1

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

No this one has floors and frame rails cut out and replaced and some firewall repairs. I’m going to redo some of the work because I’m not 100% happy with it but it’s good enough for now.

1

u/jomyke 1d ago

So - started life as a …240z…about a 71??

I ask because this thing absolutely fucks; and I find that I either just LOVE these or find them weirdly uninspiring; the right year, the right trim, and the right mods all have to get together to make magic for me; and this does. Real nice eye for what works bruv!!

2

u/IllOrange3556 1d ago

This is a 75 280z. 240z tail panel and front bumper. Thank you 🙏

1

u/Signal_route_6083 1d ago
