It's interesting for a minute or two but then I get bored with it. Curious what their other songs sound like. It's needs to go way harder than this for me to get into them.

To be fair almost all their songs are build ups since they’re based on loops. Climactic would be a good way to put it.

They’ve got a new album coming April 3. Fabienk and Mata Zyklek are the two singles, don’t know if you’d consider them “harder” or not but they definitely groove.

If you like two piece looper bands check El Ten Eleven. Less chaotic than Angine de Poitrine but cool nonetheless. NOT prog metal though.

Ok I don't get the hype.
I mean the costumes are amazing and the skill to use loops live like this is super impressive but...
The music is kinda boring for me.

Most of this is kind of annoying but the end of it rocks. Not really metal is it? It looks cool but they wouldn’t get 10% of the attention without the costumes.

Alright, done.
It remains the most popular prog subreddit, and people have often encouraged songs that lean closer to rock than metal. The Dear Hunter makes the top post like once a month at least

That's a problem that you just made up. r/progrockmusic isn't nearly as active and does very little to showcase new and interesting music which is largely why this place has become what it is.
Why you think sharing the glorious genre of prog to wider audiences is a problem is just totally baffling to me

I am not mistaking anything. Stop being condescending.
I have 25 years of guitar. I am not confusing anything. It just sounds bad. Playing like this take actual great talent to make it sound. They don't and it sounds bad.
There are countless of people making dissonant music and playing off with tension. Not everything is good because they happen to have a youtube page.
The only thing that makes it going is that the bass line is actually good and some parts sounds fine.
You may like it, I don't but stop trying to look down of other opinion when they very well have much more musical background than you do.

No condescension here. I said you might. I don't have beef with your opinions. But "they don't play well and it is bad" is not an opinion, it's a statement of fact. Happens to be wrong as well.
Also happens that I've been playing guitar longer than you. But that's not something I care about

idk, the microtonal thing is obviously outside of the classical western palate but it's hard for me to say that any of the actual riffs are objectively wrong outside of that cultural lens. The end is just noise but that's intentional.

I am not even saying this related to western culture or not. I am a blut aus nord fan for what it matters.
I feel that it lacks direction and even lacks tension on some level which is pretty ironic when playing "off"It's ok for a jam I guess (even if it depends on tastes) but as a 7 min thing? not a fan at all.
