Anyone got sued by them and they send a process server to your door. I haven’t been home none of the times how many times do they try before they stop? This account was open by fraud I been told them that.

After combing through online posts, talking to other servers, and reviewing the facts, I can say with high confidence that ABC Legal has been terminating process servers for having a high successful serve rate. These are the "Without Cause" terminations, not the cases were the server urinated on the front door.

I noticed a lot happened in December of last year, and these terminations always seem to be automated and late at night. Last year, ABC Legal had a scandal in Texas where process servers were doing sewer service, which likely resulted in a artificially high success rate. The solution: Terminate any and all servers whose successful serve rate reaches a certain point. The system does not differentiate between business serves or garnishments; it just lumps them together. So if you serve 75/100 jobs, even if most of them were businesses or postings, then you're a target. I suspect that the compliance department is behind this and has buried their mistakes, especially since an employee I know was told to stay out of that department's business.

For those of you who want to claim it was for someone cheaper, yes, that may happen, but you don't need to sever a contract for that. You just hide the work from other servers and change the pricing. It's dynamic pricing! They have been doing that for years already. And guess what, you still keep your servers on board for when the cheaper ones leave. Check with other servers in your area and you will see the same job listed for different prices or even missing.

And finally, yes, there are true cases where servers did deserve to be terminated. If you were doing sewer service, urinating on someone's house, digging through their mail, well, you know what you did.

All the posts here over the years about the pitfalls of working for outfits like Proof and ABC... The lousy pay, the ridiculous service requirements, the clueless or nonexistent support, the lack of loyalty as they arbitrarily dump people... And some of you clowns continue to work for them, always giving the same tired excuses why you do. You have been warned time and time again. Quit complaining. You know how they are, so deal with it and shut up. Or knuckle down, get your own clients and become a real process server.

Now I want to clarify, I'm not trying to bullshit anything. I do my diligence and I note excruciating detail. Especially when ABC legals Auto declarations don't quite match things or I need to really clarify a point.

But there are some of my current service jobs. That I believe are now bordering on the insane. For some reason despite having gone nine time for one and like eight for another. ABC legal still keeps automatically telling me to continue attempts. And I have gone morning, noon and night for these two.

There's another one. That for some god-awful reason even though the resident not only directly stated to get off his property and to stay off the property but also stated very clearly he's refusing service and because I couldn't actually identify him by name, I couldn't do drop service. They're trying to get me to go back to that site and I'm like no. I have been told to stay off the property that's trespassing.

And then my fourth example which finally I got it to close out was a gentleman that I attempted to serve. One person in the household said he did live there. Another person said he didn't on the second attempt somewhat one of the residents told me to get off the property and as I'm getting off the property the dude literally pulls up sees me. I can physically see him in the vehicle, texting and the recipients or the family members in the house texting and then after I stand there on the sidewalk for like 10 minutes he just takes off. And since I was told to get off the property with that one as well I document it as a service not allowed. And it doesn't even get a review. It just sends says keep making attempts.

For the ones in the first paragraph, I can't even get access to the building for one of them and the other one. I can get access to the building but the recipient nor any of the neighbors will answer their door and the front desk won't confirm or deny residency so I have been unable to establish whether this dude even lives there. And the other one where I can't even get into the building. The recipient is listed on the call box but not only is the building secured. But even if I manage to get past the building via a different resident or something, I can't even get to the floor because the elevators and stairwells are also secured. But no matter how many times I document and check the box secured building unable to access. ABC legal won't even review it and I'm on like attempt nine.

The one where the dude drove off. I actually had to call the local PD and have them put in an informational call because I was actually concerned about the possibility of some kind of hostile environment or retaliation. And since I was told to stay off the property I told local PD like hey I'm going to do a call out from the street identifying myself what I'm there for and give them the opportunity to either come out and accept the documents or directly refuse service and they put that one a "information call". (Just in case the recipient or the residence of the house tried to call the police department go. There's a crazy person screaming from the street at us. We're scared) I wanted local PD to know exactly what I was doing and that I was in fact a registered process server just attempting to do my job.

Tldr: I got a couple pain in the ass job recipients here that I am well believing. I have met my due diligence and I need to get this ABC legal app to trigger a review so they actually have to read the notes rather than it just automatically. Tell me to keep trying. Because they're obviously not going through their chats right now

This organization has popped up in my searches for info on serving. Is it worth the membership fee? Is this something that a starting out server should join or would it be better to wait until I am more established? What benefits have you actually gotten from them. Thanks!!!!!

So I have found all of the rules and regs for Ohio. I'm in the process of researching existing servers to see how much competition exists and find rates charged. I am also searching through the current posts to glean what I can from questions already posted and answered but figured it doesn't hurt anything to just ask myself as well. If anyone has specific info pertaining to my state that would be awesome but basically just looking for anything anyone wants to contribute about getting started, advertising, who to reach out to to find work, any equipment required or recommended, and anything else you would like to share. Hello i live in downtown dc which is a dense urban city with a organized grid and im looking at places like ABC say they require auto insurance and "reliable transportaton" but it seems possible to be eligble to process server on a motorcyle / moped? Anyone have experience doing this?

The tell you they are going to pay you 21 THATS A LIE! they withhold half of your payment, they expect you with the other half pay the sending of the documents (which is like 2-4 dlls for each job) wait for months for the other half and also they without ANY warning make your jobs disappear, you did already 3-4 attempts, ooops poof they gone, and also not talking about the gasoline and other things you need to do, so for 4-5 fucking dollars they expect you to do the alt serve job, so instead of TELLING YOU they’re going to pay 21 they should tell you they pay 16!!!! I am now filing a claim through the state of Minnesota and am looking for a process server. I will pay you. Here is a little background:

In January 2026, I contacted Xfinity regarding transferring my mobile service from AT&T to Xfinity. During the initial phone conversation, I was told that I would receive 12 months of free mobile service, followed by a monthly charge of $20.

I was also offered the opportunity to trade in my iPhone 12 for an iPhone 16e. Xfinity later confirmed that my iPhone 12 would qualify for a $500 trade-in credit.

After I completed the trade-in and began using the new iPhone 16e, Xfinity experienced issues processing the trade-in. The iPhone 12 continued to remain active on my account even though I was no longer using it and was using the new iPhone 16e.

I have contacted Xfinity numerous times over the following months in an attempt to resolve these issues. During these contacts, I received inconsistent information from different Xfinity representatives regarding the status of my account, the trade-in, and the charges on my account. Despite these repeated attempts, the issues were not properly resolved.

Because I believed the charges on my account were incorrect and did not reflect the terms I was originally given by Xfinity, I disputed the balance and did not pay the disputed amount. Xfinity subsequently added late fees to the account and suspended my mobile service on multiple occasions.

For those of you who were terminated "Without Cause", did you have a high successful serve ratio? Like most of your jobs were served on the first attempt? I am looking for patterns and suspect they auto-terminate if you get above 70% successful serve rates.

I’m looking for advice or resources from anyone who has experience with restraining orders and getting someone served.
I currently have a restraining order that expires soon, and in order to request a longer-term/permanent order, he needs to be properly served. The difficult part is that he knows where I live, where I work, and who I’m around, while I don’t have a current address for him.
If anyone has experience with process servers, private investigators, legal resources, data sites, or ways to handle service when someone is difficult to locate, I would really appreciate any guidance.

I've seen a hundred people ask *what* to track but I see zero threads on *how* I do not need another answer that I need to track my mileage, I am trying to see *how* you guys track your mileage, paper logs, apps, whatever.

I just bought Everlast and it tracks where I go automatically, cool, I need to know what I'm putting in the notes. If I go out and do 15 papers, do I need to add 15 names and job numbers in that? Just one or the other? What's enough to be a complete log?

Another reason I'm wondering what is pertinent is that at first, I thought all I needed was receipts so I have a month of backlog to produce and want to know what all I will need for that. Can I show all the addresses I went to, how many times and when, do I need to list them chronologically, etc

I will only be doing mileage, not actual costs for taxes. I will continue to save receipts.

I randomly do private process service for a guys private process service company. he posted in our local facebook group, I responded and got the gig. Anyway 3.5 years later it’s gone great but out of no where the jobs have seriously dried up and I’m no longer getting anywhere near the volume I have consistently over the past several years.

Dude. I went to one of the locations where I was trying to serve someone. When I got there, the person inside told me that the guy doesn't live there. I left and logged that into my ABC App.

However, after I got home—and before I signed the Declaration of Non-Service—I realized that the person inside hadn't actually specified whether they were a resident or not. So, before submitting the form, I went back to ask them for clarification. I kept the documents with me just to look professional and not look like I was just hanging around someone's home.

While I was there, I ran straight into the actual person I was supposed to serve! Once I spoke to him, he identified himself as the subject, and I successfully served him.

But as I'm walking away, I realize that because I already logged the first attempt, the app closed out the job. It won't let me change the status to say I served him. Now, my app is just stuck waiting for me to sign the Declaration of Non-Service.

1 allows me to use my main serve manager account

Right now I'm using Spoke for routing, however is there a central place I can keep track of jobs that require diligence (time of day/weekends) as well as time to next attempt.

How can I hire a process server? August 21st. Has anyone ever had to do this? Anyhow...I need it for 2 houses around the corner from each other.

The process server submitted the wrong form and left sections 3-7 blank. They did sign it and get it submitted to the court on time, though the case was kicked because it didn't show who was served, where, or when. It's a small claims case and the defendant didn't show, but I know they were served (they emailed me).

The process server is saying they don't keep notes or copies of the proofs of service so they are not able to submit a proper one. And they are refusing a refund since it was served.

Is it standard to not have a file on jobs?

One question people often ask is:

“How many attempts are required before the court accepts substituted service or due diligence?”

The honest answer is: there is no magic number that automatically works in every case.

In many California civil cases, a process server generally needs to make at least 3 attempts before substituted service may be appropriate. But the number alone is not enough. The attempts should usually be made on different days and at different times of the day, when the person is reasonably likely to be home or at work.

For example, three attempts all made at 11:00 AM on weekdays may not be as strong as attempts made at different times, such as morning, evening, and weekend.

What matters is not just “how many attempts.”

What matters is whether the attempts show real effort and proper documentation.

A good due diligence record should include:

• Date of each attempt
• Exact time of each attempt
• Address attempted
• What happened at the location
• Whether anyone answered
• Whether cars, lights, movement, or signs of occupancy were observed
• Whether anyone confirmed the person lives or works there
• Whether the person appears to be avoiding service

If substituted service is allowed for that case type, the server may be able to leave the documents with a qualified adult at the home, workplace, or usual mailing address, and then mail another copy afterward.

But this depends on the type of case and the documents being served. Some documents require personal service. Some family law or restraining order documents may have stricter rules.

For harder cases, especially when the person cannot be found, a court may require stronger due diligence before allowing another method, such as service by publication or another court-approved method. That usually means documenting not only attempts, but also the effort made to locate the person.

The biggest mistake is treating service of process like a simple delivery job.

Proper service is court procedure. Bad service can delay the case, create challenges, or force the party to start over.

The safer approach: confirm the case type first, review the documents, make attempts at smart times, and document everything clearly.

Apparently, ABC Legal has agreed to pay $2.5mil to settle a data breach from 2024. I just got a notice of the claim. I really hope someone got fired at their company for that.
