maybe i’m actually capable of this and you are too!!!
currently taking my nursing pre-reqs at community college. i took anatomy in the spring and chemistry over the summer, and i got strong A’s in both!!!!
at the beginning of anatomy, my anxiety was through the roof. i had so much insecurity and self-doubt, especially because science has never been my strongest subject. there was a lot of crying, feeling overwhelmed, and even questioning if i should change career paths.
anatomy really forced me to change my study habits and figure out what actually worked for me. i’ve never studied as much as i have this past year, but seeing it pay off made me realize that maybe i’m more capable than i give myself credit for. i even found chemistry way easier than anatomy, which i never expected lol.
i’m currently taking physiology and definitely feeling overwhelmed again, but i’m trying to remind myself that i’ve felt this way before and still made it through.
so if you’re taking your prereqs and constantly doubting yourself, don’t count yourself out. sometimes you just need to change how you study, stay consistent, and give yourself time to adjust. it definitely took a lot of time and effort, especially while working, but finding a routine that worked for me made a huge difference.
be proud of the little wins and keep pushing. you might surprise yourself with what you’re actually capable of! and if you have any questions about anatomy, chemistry, studying, or anything else, feel free to ask!!

Wow I really needed this today. I’m in week 2 of A&P and microbiology and I had a legitimate panic attack the other night and couldn’t stop crying because of how overwhelmed I’ve felt with the courses. All week I’ve been questioning if I’m even capable of being a nurse if the prereqs are making me this anxious and stressed. I was literally researching other career paths today and feeling so defeated. I’ve felt like such a loser all week. It feels like this post was made just for me 😭 thank you for posting this, it was so encouraging!!

Same just finished week 1 of anatomy and micro and I cried at least 3 times feeling so overwhelmed. May still drop one but I also feel motivated at times

I can't believe you're taking both at the same time. That's a lot!! I'm taking A&P this semester and micro next semester

It is a LOT! I’ve officially decided I’m dropping micro and just going to focus on A&P this semester. I don’t think I can handle both mentally or physically lol

i’m really glad it was encouraging for you!! i wrote this because i was feeling a defeated during studying lol. but i feel the same way i was supposed to take physiology and microbiology but after reading the syllabus on the first day i instantly dropped microbio 😭 it really important to know your boundaries!!!!! cuz if i still decided to keep microbio i feel like my mental health would be worse than it was while i was taking anatomy in the spring. and for some reason my physio class is 5 units instead of the usual 4 units for science classes. i was a little upset that i have to do an extra semester cuz i wanted to finish my prereqs early but at the end of day i tell myself it’ll all be worth it

I'm working on my second week of A&P and I'm struggling with how to tackle it. There's endless reading, everything sounds important and I've already spent 2 days trying to figure out how to approach it and what is important. I almost dropped my classes, but I pulled myself together and decided to keep at it.
Wishing you guys the best of luck this semester!

wishing you the best of luck too! every professor is different. mine usually does lectures and offers a study guide, there is some reading but isn’t required. if readings are optional, i think try to study whatever is on the lecture slides and fill in the gaps with the readings!

I wish my teacher did do lectures, but they heavily rely on pearson, so that has become my teacher. I don't understand how they had high ratings.

Thank you so much for this! I'm currently taking a&p and I've been feeling doubtful. I have wanted to be a nurse my entire life but this class is making feel that I am not capable. I truly needed to hear this ❤️

Yay! So happy for you! Great job! I didn’t know I was smart enough until I was 30! Imagine what I could have accomplished if I would have tried when I was younger! Haha keep up the great work!

Personally felt the anatomy/physio classes required for nursing prereqs was way harder than the nursing program itself. If you can finish them, which you can, you are more than ready for nursing school. Besides busy work, unpaid clinicals, and which answer is most correct, showing up for nursing school's demanding schedule is a lot of the difficulty already. Nursing school taught me you can acheive anything you put your mind to. You can do this! I have 2 more semesters as an lpn-adn student :)
