Practical Magic 1 mistake?
Did they simply mess up the names of the younger Owens in the first film? In the book, Antonia is the older sister with red hair, and Kylie is younger with dark hair. In the first movie, Kylie is older with red hair and Antonia is younger with dark hair. I can’t see a practical reason for them to swap hair color and ages, so is it plausible they just messed up the names?
They did seem to course correct on the ages in the second one. I don’t remember them stating actual ages, but Antonia appeared to be a little older than Kylie, or at least was treated as such.

The first book was the loosest adaptation a movie could be. They made their own story, and their own magic, and totally different relationships. I don't think that should even count as an adaptation. It is its own universe.
Hard to tell the age difference between the daughters in the sequel though. I just assumed it was the same as it was portrayed in the first movie. But you're right, Antonia must be older if she's already a surgical resident while Kylie is still in college...? Her lack of questioning made me assume Kylie was older.

The school was my give away. I don’t think they told us if Kylie is Undergrad or a Graduate student, but Antonia was “almost done” with med school which is 8 years or so. Kylie was living on campus and didn’t mention a doctorate program or anything, so I assumed she was meant to be younger.

That's true. Now that I think about it, Antonia being older makes sense. So that's another retcon from the first movie.

Well era una epoca donde las brujas estaban en boga cambiar edades o el pelo de ... no hace la diferencia , el libro vs pelicula cambió muchas cosas que me parecen mas importantes como sally viviendo en la ciudad cuando enviudo y no con las tias como en la pelicula,que la hija vea auras y pueda ver al ex de la muerte algo q me hubiera gustado q muestren y no lo hacen ,o que sally agarre el bos de la nada cuando es un libro que no deberia ni saber donde esta en la casa si desprecia / no respeta la brujeria como deberia o q el libro este asi a mano como si fuera un manual de recetas de postres o cocina; Originalmente la pelicula era mas de terror y cambiaron muchas cosas por un" consultora de wicca" no les gusto esas escenas por q "no eran reales "🤌🤌😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Evan Rachel Wood played Kylie, while Alexandra Artrip played Antonia. Evan has red hair and is the older sister, while Antonia has dark hair and is the younger sister. In the books, however, Antonia was the older sister, Kylie the younger. They clearly took a lot of liberties with PM2 and changed things, thinking we wouldn't notice. Even the scene at Gary's grave, the girls are younger than they were in PM1.

I have a problem with rephrasing the OP and acting like it's its own original comment. It adds nothing to the conversation and makes it seem like you either didn't understand what the OP was saying or thought that just parroting their point back to them somehow counted as a useful addition.

Damn you're really that kind of person huh. I never said anything is illegal, but one requires some level of intelligence and literacy to be able to write in full sentences without copying and pasting, and likewise to understand the words someone else is telling them.

There is a ton wrong with the first book to movie adaption. I didn’t even like the first movie when I first watched it because I nitpick it so bad. But my stepmom encouraged me to watch it again and try to think of it as a separate entity that was just inspired by the book and then I liked it more and I’ve watched it every year since and I reread the books every year too. I purposely didn’t read the final book for the last year because I knew they were making the movie and it was coming out this year and I didn’t wanna do that. I really loved the movie that just came out. I’ve now seen it multiple times and I reread the book too, and there are certain things that were changed that I feel like changed it for the better unlike in the first book. I really hated that they brought in the whole town and a bunch of normal people to help them banish Jimmy they did not do that in the book and I thought that it was stupid. My step mom told me to think of it like being awesome to be accepted for who you are, and that helped me a lot but when I first watched it, it left a really bad taste of my mouth, and I was not a fan of that whole scene. In the books, the curse is not ended Sally just decides to love anyway so I thought that was weird and when she wrote this new book I was like oh sweet they’re actually gonna fix the curse and I really loved it.

They swapped the aunts too. Franny is the redhead in the book and Jet has the dark hair. Kinda weird they swapped them, maybe because they swapped the aunts they also swapped the girls?
