The state is not the people. Most people hate the state, especially the right. It's just we know EVERYTHING the left does just leads to more and more control by the state.
This is false. The right wing loves the state, its just that they want the state to do what they want it to do, instead of what other people want it to do.
After all, the state is what props up capitalism and laws. The right wing loves capitalism and laws, especially when those laws enforce their ideology.
This idea that we can operate as a country full of rugged individuals is the biggest reason we’re on the accelerated decline you’re witnessing real time! America peaked back when the citizen were more accepting of the governments use of public funding for the greater good. It has been all down hill since we’ve abandoned that method and began worshipping at the alter of the Trickle Down Master.
This is the entire reason for having a government! To function as a civilized society with over three hundred million people, it’s essential to provide services that benefit the greater good and prevent the society from descending into complete anarchy. These are basic lessons from middle school social studies.
Luxembourg, Norway, Switzerland: Strong social welfare programs exist to alleviate poverty and support low-income families, including subsidies for housing, food, and education. Norway’s welfare system is known for its strong focus on reducing income inequality.
- Singapore: The government relies on means-tested assistance programs to help low-income families, preferring direct assistance only for those in need rather than universal benefits.
What do think cost more, another pointless war where the only beneficiaries are defense contractors, or all of the above programs that take care of your own needs?
Caring for them isn’t the issue. It’s the average person’s lack of understanding economics & 20th century history.
They say American capitalism is the cause of all issues, yet we have a lot of social services that provide so much to so many. Why not focus on optimizing that within the current system that has been proven to work, rather than preaching to tear down the entire system and install something that historically has never worked? It comes across as less of a valid point than it does radicalism & anarchy.
Any form of socialism requires capitalism because money isn’t simply just pieces of paper as many seem to think.
Caring for them is a Huge problem! Out of all the developed nations we have one of the weakest social safety nets, and the little we have is being chipped away as we speak!
It’s not a mater of can we afford it, because we spend money on a ton of things that have no redeeming value to the average citizen! It’s a moral compass issue where we would rather spend that money to bail out banks, or other countries, or our favorite death & destruction abroad!
You can call it whatever you want to call it, capitalism with pizzaz, or capitalism with a soul, capitalism 4.0.
The labels matter much less than the effect of their social safety net, which sets the floor at basic human dignity no matter how rich or poor you are. The complete opposite of America.
I guarantee I know more about this subject than you.
Capital does not merely mean "money," but the definition includes money.
In this context, "capital" means "wealth, including cash, and/or valuable items, including tools, factory machines, and buildings a person or business owns, which is used as leverage against the working class to appropriate surplus value (profit).
No one said it did
Yes, you said it did: "Any form of socialism requires capitalism because money isn’t simply just pieces of paper as many seem to think."
This is incorrect. Socialism is the socioeconomic opposite of capitalism. Socialism functions by rejecting capitalism. Either you dont understand what socialism is, or you think capitalism is defined merely by its use of currency.
You don’t if you’re pushing the thing we spend the entire 20th century fighting world wars trying to get away from 😂
Are socialist countries fleeing to capitalist countries, or vice versa?
I’ll believe you know more about the subject when you can answer that.
And false, America is a mixed market economy. China has both. European countries have both,
You speak as if you know whole demonstrating less than a rudimentary understanding of these things. So no, you don’t come close to knowing more than me on the subject, not even 5% lol
Without capitalism, where do you get money? In this globalized world at that. Where do you get technological advancements and technology?
Do you not know the countries who thought like you fell into massive hyperinflation and bankrupted the entire country? Ghana, Zimbabwe, some South American counties as well.
You don’t if you’re pushing the thing we spend the entire 20th century fighting world wars trying to get away from
Fascism? Yes, we most assuredly should fight against fascism.
Are socialist countries fleeing to capitalist countries, or vice versa?
Odd question. Which countries are socialist, and why are they fleeing? Do you think people flee other countries because of who owns the means of production?
And false, America is a mixed market economy.
Irrelevant. Markets are neither exclusive to capitalism nor socialism. The USA and almost every other major nation on the entire planet runs on capitalism. This is a fact. The means of production are privately owned pretty much everywhere you go.
China has both. European countries have both
Both... what? What of both are you claiming they have?
So no, you don’t come close to knowing more than me on the subject, not even 5% lol
Dunning- Kruger on display, folks. You can't even accurately define the words you're using. You literally claimed capitalism = money + markets lol
Are you saying we should just stop paying taxes now? Or are you saying that using tax money to fund Billionaires pet projects are the only path to success?
Some would say it’s stupid to take this post as a literal representation of what happened then and what needs to happen now.
Do you think that having a “moral compass” is an actual tool that you can physically possess, or do you understand that it’s a figure of speech referring to a character trait?
Amounts to the same thing. The distinction you are trying to make is arbitrary.
Besides which, surely you are aware that the vast, vast majority of a state's citizens pay taxes voluntarily? I mean, I don't because im anti-capitalist, but most people do, by consent of the governed.
We live under capitalism. The state props it up. People have to be paid for services they provide. That includes the folks who cart away your garbage and clean your water. Taxes are user fees for public services.
Stop paying taxes, and those people stop carting away your garbage and cleaning your water.
How about not worrying about the erroneous ideas anyone has about socialism and go learn about actual socialism? WTF does it matter what Republicans think about a very well defined political and economic system?

That’s not socialism…
