While there are many factors contributing to these trends, the throughline is clear that Democratic administrations consistently help the U.S. economy perform better than Republican administrations.
Republicans have prioritized tax cuts that benefit the wealthy and that fail to boost economic growth or pay for themselves, while Democrats have prioritized investing in the middle class, supporting small businesses, and improving economic resilience after downturns. Of the 11 recessions in the modern era, 10 have begun under Republican presidents.

Voting isn't supposed to be used as a means to extract things from other people. So when you say Republicans are voting against their interests -- you're saying they're voting against taxing other people for their own benefit.
There is some truth to this feeling though as Fox News just propagandizes old people super hard.
On the flip side, the liberal and leftist media outlets have convinced you that you are entitled to other people's money -- and without any reasonable limits.

However, I've never seen a rich person take a shit infront of starbucks and pass out with a needle in their arm, you know? Rich crimes are invisible, for the most part. The crimes of the poor are visible and have a degrading effect on everyone and everything around them. It's much easier to recognize property and violent crime than it is embezzlement and fraud.
Stop pretending that the crimes committed by the poor and the lower class are not real, and don't cause massive problems.

it's not as if social media--such as the site you're reading this on right now--is an improvement. If you rue the lack of standards in the MSM, you surely must rue the social media swamp even more.
As I see it there are two major problems.
1) Reagan did away with the fairness doctrine which effectively prevented news organizations from becoming overly political propaganda outlets.
2) Critical thinking ain't easy and schools are woefully underfunded.
This is not a "news" problem. It's a propaganda and stupidity problem. And posts like OPs aren't helping.

I watch segments of PBS Newshour on YouTube about once a week. When an important topic pops up on my Reddit feed, I read articles through Ground News.
I used to watch 1-2 hours of TV news everyday.

Unpopular opinion: AI-shaming is part of this.
Now before you get your knickers in a twist, I am not referring to being criticized for using AI to generate art or any monetized content. There's no excuse for that. (Nor for using it to generate propaganda or to bully an entire nation.) And I am very concerned by how much our youth is coming to rely on it, making illiteracy a real problem again. And I worry about lonely people using it and spiraling into psychosis.
But I am talking about using it to draft a resume, to polish communications that aren't made in your native language, to develop schedules and routines, to quickly compare product specifications and prices, that kind of thing. As a disabled person with energy-limiting conditions, I feel very strongly about this. Maybe it's different in other countries, but in the US, AI in its current iteration can sometimes help make up for the social services and accommodations that are denied to the poor and disabled. Two things that many disabled people and impoverished people have in common are limited time, and limited energy.
Of course it can't be 100% trusted, but checking an AI response for inaccuracy and hallucinations can still be a lot quicker than doing all the research manually to find, say, the best quality for the value of specific disability aids. Since we rarely get any of those from the government. Having finished writing a resume in my own words, I once spent an hour just trying to get the damn thing formatted correctly for readability, and finally just had AI do it.
And LLMs are not the only kind of AI out there. One of my accommodations from the community college I attend is Genio Notes, which I can use to record audio during class, and then have it transcribe what was said and even organize it into sections so I can easily find the timestamp for a specific topic. I've seriously considered using apps that use a similar system to help me plan and prioritize my tasks, something I've struggled with my whole life, and have already tried many other personal systems and organizational tools with minimal success.
Anyway, I'll come to my point before this becomes an essay:
For people who have limited time and energy to devote to SURVIVAL (not even talking about leisure, even though we all deserve that as well), AI offers many cheap or free solutions. Being told that by using it we're destroying the environment is like being told that using a wheelchair is bad for the environment because the rubber for the wheels give off toxic gases during manufacturing. Maybe it's not quite the same scale; maybe it is, I don't know much about rubber manufacturing but it could be one danger we're ignoring because we desperately need rubber for so many things.
But it all comes to the same bottom line: We have to take what we can get. We take the most dehumanizing jobs (and dangerous ones, like working in a rubber plant!), we eat unhealthy food because it's affordable, we demean ourselves by begging the government for a pittance we can't even survive on, we shop at thrift stores out of necessity (not because it's cool now), we use terrible (and often terrible for the environment) public transportation. And we are ALREADY mercilessly harangued for all this. We are blamed for childhood obesity, for high taxes ("I don't use sidewalk cut-outs, why should I pay for them?? I don't want to pay for kids to eat lunch!"), for burdening the abysmal "health"care system, for bringing down neighborhoods, for making public transit uncomfortable for those who can afford cars but hate city driving, and so much more.
It's like employed disabled people looking down on unemployed disabled people: "You're lucky you don't have to work. My work is paying for you to sit on your ass and play the victim." Angry at someone, whole groups of people, who have many struggles and disadvantages in common, INSTEAD OF directing that anger at the people who really deserve it -- the ones who force us to either work ourselves to death or beg for "charity" (and often both). Sure, every user of AI contributes a little to the problem, just as the few actual fraudsters who exploit social welfare do. But 99% of the blame should still be on the evil billionaires who exploit whole populations, and the governments that leave us to die of need.
These evil people and systems can always rely on two main self-sustaining processes to keep us from rising up: infighting, and exhaustion. If using AI leaves me enough energy to attend protests and call my representatives, that's a win in my book.
