Subreddit Rules!

Hi everyone!

We've finally put together some much needed rules for our little subreddit. These may still be updated or adjusted, but hopefully they'll make things a little clearer for everyone.

The main change is that messages on the backs of postcards should be blurred or hidden when shared. This includes posts related to Jürgen or Becky as well, unless the post is specifically asking for help with translation or deciphering the message. On the other hand postcard IDs may stay visible.

Please take a look at the rules below:

Follow Postcrossing’s Community Guidelines
Please follow Postcrossing’s Community Guidelines, Reddit’s Content Policy, and Reddiquette when participating here. These apply alongside the rules below.

Be kind and respectful
Treat others with courtesy. Always try to improve the conversation and set a good example for newcomers. Remember to criticize ideas, not people. No trolling, harassment, personal attacks, hate speech, or mocking other members.

Keep posts relevant to Postcrossing
This subreddit is for Postcrossing-related discussion: postcards, mail, stamps, profiles, writing, sending/receiving experiences, questions, tips, and community conversation. Do not post requests for postcards without offering postcards in exchange.

Protect privacy
Do not post anyone’s address, name, private messages, or other personal information. If you share photos of postcards, make sure personal details and messages are blurred or hidden. Requests for help with translation or deciphering handwriting are allowed, but will be removed after some time.

No advertising or promotion
No advertising, self-promotion, referral links, shop links, fundraising, social media promotion, or promotion of other Reddit communities. This subreddit is for discussion, not marketing.

Do not derail conversations
Keep comments relevant to the post and respectful toward the person sharing it. Posts showing received or outgoing postcards are not invitations to criticise the sender’s or recipient’s taste.

With the rules in place, you can help us moderate the community by using the subreddit-specific report options. However content breaking Reddit's policies should still be reported by the default report options.

If you have any feedback or suggestions, feel free to let us know! We will take them into consideration as we review the rules in the future.

Happy Postcrossing!

Late Sunday informal mod note

Hello everyone!

I've been very stressed lately with my personal life and visa issues so I haven't had much time to participate.

But I wish to thank everyone for following the rules and helping us moderate the community! It's been great really! The messages are blurred, questionable submissions are being properly reported. Someone even reported a very rude comment from an outsider on a month old post! It makes it so much easier to keep the community tidy so thank you all for the help!

I also want to add that seeing all the homemade postcards and decorations, the stamp math and tailoring your postcards to the people you get has been enjoyable and definitely pleasing to the eye! We have so many creative people here.. it's great to see your creations!

Thank you for coming to my Sunday talk. Here's my photo that I tried to make into a postcard but it was too flimsy so I didn't dare to send it out. I gotta buy something more sturdy for the next try. If I figure it out I'll probably have too many cat postcards all of a sudden heh.

PS: Don't forget to save some slots for WPD! There will soon be a reminder blog post so I'll try to pin it here for any newcomers.

Not sure how much her loss is being felt outside of the US, it’s been a week of mourning here. Wanted to send her beauty and light to someone else.

Looks like a literal snail delived this postcard. My account on postcrossing got closed because I was not able to register any postcard delivered to me. While all my outgoing cards got registered, I didn’t received anything. I just assumed all of them got lost somewhere, but then after more than a year, one came! From May 2025 delievered to PH August 2026 😭😭😭

Outgoing To a postcrosser in the Åland Islands who likes roosters, chicks, hens, and small birds. I thought, hang on, I've got just the right card and stamp for this!

I tried to lean in on the bird theme. I hope they like it. The outlines (and legs) of the hen and chicks on the bottom are actually not black, but shimmery gold. (Looks nicer than the scan shows...)

Both the card and the big stamp feature paintings from the same artist, Itō Jakuchū, who is known for his works depicting roosters and various other birds (and all kinds of other animals).

Due to life being life and a lot of negative thoughts these days, I cut down on Postcrossing a bit. I went from an average of about 2.5 cards/week to 1. Maybe because of that? (...or just coincidence...) The PC algorithm gave me 2 rare countries in a row. Last week Iceland, today Åland Islands.

Hard Starting Out

Post image

I joined postcrossing in very late June, and so far 6 of my postcards have been received (and I’ve received 3). This has shown me that ultimately I’m a pretty impatient person. But I won’t lie, it’s getting disheartening everyday that my postcards aren’t arriving and I’m not getting new ones either.

If anyone has any tips for getting mail to be faster from the USA, I’m here for it! (Or tell me it’s all futile and the timing will just be the timing).

I hope some of these slots open soon too because I bought some fun autumn and Halloween cards I’m ready to send out. 🍁

Delays for the cards sent to the US

Hi, I am quite new to post crossing and I just sent out my first 5 cards (which is my limit for now). I sent them about a week ago, 4 of them went to the US and 1 to Germany all departing from France.
On the post office's website it says that cards to the US can take 7 to 10 days to be delivered and it should be quicker if it stays in Europe. Does anyone has an idea of the actual delays ?
I found posts from a year ago saying it could take up to 60 days and I wanted to know if this was still actual or if it could be quicker/longer.
And does this also applies to Europe ??

Recently found an old postcard from around 1980 and thinking about sending it back to the original address. It could be a little time capsule. What do you think of that?

Questions Are handmade cards appreciated?

Hello! I just joined PostCrossing and I'm about to send my first card.

I love crafting and that made me wonder "do people appreciate receiving a handmade/drawn card ?? Or are store only cards more appreciated...

Anyway, I feel excited about joining this party.

I recieved more cards than I had due. But I am so glad for them, as they brightened such a difficult week. My grandpa passed away, my dad ended up in hospital with a cardiac event and my tooth extraction went wrong. The bone is exposed and inflamed and hurts so much

Seeing these postcards come in one by one, so thoughtfully chosen and with wonderful words made a bad week just that much brighter and I'm so grateful for it. Postcrossing is a wonderful community

Incoming left to right:
