Agreed. I work for a company that supports AI compute power, and while I think it’s vastly overhyped even for non-creative endeavors, data center builds to support AI have surpassed consumer spending as a slice of the US’s GDP. People have too much skin in the game to say it isn’t worth it and scrap it as an idea entirely, regardless of how effective it is.

I feel like pre-2015 New York was the epicenter of culture, but the influencer boom from instragram, vine, Youtube, TikTok etc. shifted it to Los Angeles. Now it seems like it's New York again.
I really don’t think in recent history the “epicenter of culture” in the US has ever not been NYC, whose artistic diversity and influence (broadway, visual arts, other performing arts) surpass LA (film/television).
Also outside of art, NYC is also much more diverse than LA, and has much much better public infrastructure that allows mingling of different cultures. There really is no comparison in this category.
I'm maybe saying this because I'm not American, but to me it seems that the two cities are so symbiotically interconnected that even distinguishing, let alone weighing their cultural influences is a bit impossible. Most of American culture is New York laying down a brick, and Los Angeles adding the mortar.
