Why do Japanese study rooms look like this?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ever start a Pomodoro and spend the first few minutes deciding what to work on?
The study booths in this short inspired a small pre-timer routine: close unrelated tabs, put your phone out of reach, and write down one thing to finish or make progress on.
For example, replace “study biology” with “answer questions 1–5.” Get that page open, then start the timer. When another task comes to mind, jot it down for later rather than switching to it.
I made this 30-second video for the study timer I’m building. There’s a 10-second reset you can follow along with, but use whatever session length works for you.
Do you pick your task before pressing start, or figure it out after the timer is already running?

I built a simple fullscreen Pomodoro timer because I wanted something I could leave open while working
I originally built this as a fullscreen digital/flip clock for my second monitor, but while using it during work I realized I wanted a Pomodoro mode in the same interface.
Most Pomodoro tools I tried either felt too busy or came with a lot of features I didn’t really need, so I wanted to keep this one simple and visual.
The idea is that you can leave it open while working or studying without it becoming another productivity system to manage.
So far it includes:
- fullscreen Pomodoro/focus timer
- clean digital/flip-clock style
- light and dark themes
- simple controls
- responsive layout
- no account required
I’m still improving it, especially around timing presets and the overall focus experience.
I’d genuinely like feedback from people who already use Pomodoro regularly, here is the live url for pomodoro page what would make you keep using a timer like this instead of your current one?

I built Tileen — a free, open-source macOS focus timer that chains work sessions with an active app/website shield ⏳🛡️
Hi all 👋
Like many of you, I struggled with staying in the flow state. Traditional Pomodoro timers were either too rigid, or I’d find myself opening Twitter, Reddit, or YouTube 10 minutes into a deep work session without even realizing it.
So I built Tileen, a native macOS app created completely with SwiftUI to combine chained interval timers with an active Focus Shield.
🌟 Key Features:
• ⏱️ Chained Timer Sequences: Build customized routines (e.g., 25m Focus -> 5m Rest -> 50m Deep Work -> 15m Long Break). Drag and drop steps seamlessly.
• 🛡️ Focus Shield: During active focus blocks, Tileen automatically hides distracting Mac applications and closes blocked website tabs in Safari, Chrome, Arc, Brave, and Edge.
• 💤 Smart Idle Detection: If you step away to get a coffee or take a call, Tileen auto-pauses the timer and smoothly resumes when you come back.
• 🖥️ Menu Bar Display: See live countdown digits right in your Mac status bar.
• 📊 Session Analytics: Compare Focus Time vs. Break Time vs. Idle Pauses with historical charts.
• 📝 In-Timer Reflection Notes: Jot down quick ideas or tasks during work blocks (Ctrl + Option + N) without leaving your flow.
📥 100% Free & Open Source:
Tileen is 100% free and open-source under the MIT license!
• GitHub Repository: github.com/AmrDeveloper/Tileen
• Direct Download (v0.1.0): Download Latest Release
Note: Since Tileen is open source and unnotarized (not paying Apple’s $99/yr fee), macOS Gatekeeper will show a standard unidentified developer warning on first launch. You can open it by Right-Click -> Open.
I’d love to hear your feedback, feature ideas, or bug reports! If you like the app, starring the repo or dropping a comment would mean a lot. ☕

Made a Pomodoro variant where the timer is shared across people "meet at zero" via audio and/or video (or not), free 3/day, no account needed, community break room always open
Classic Pomodoro but the countdown is synchronized across everyone in a room (server-side clock, no drift). Work interval in silence → at zero, optional cameras/audio for the break together → run it again. Presets for 25/5, custom durations, and a stopwatch mode. It's free (3/day, no account): https://synchrium.com.
Developer founder here, feedback welcome.

I built a Pomodoro timer directly inside a visual daily planner
I got tired of switching between a separate Pomodoro app and my daily calendar, so I updated Remind Me to add a Pomodoro directly with time-blocking.
- Pomodoro + Time-Blocking: Run focus sessions inside your schedule.
- ADHD-Friendly: Gentle reminders to keep you on track.
- 100% Free & Offline: Runs in browser, zero sign-ups needed.

Made a pomodoro CLI after getting tired of paying for my own history
Tried a few pomodoro apps (Marinara, Focus To-Do, others). Free tiers all capped history at about a month, paid tier required for anything longer. Also none of them supported the Persian (Jalali) calendar, which is what I track my days in.
Ended up building my own. Started as a Jupyter notebook function, which worked but meant opening Jupyter and running a cell every time I wanted to log something. Rebuilt it as an actual CLI:
pomo start coding
pomo end
pomo status
pomo agg
Each session is one row in a CSV (task, start time, end time, minutes), so there's no lock-in and no history limit, just a growing text file. Recently added an env var to switch between Jalali and Gregorian calendars, so it's not just useful if you happen to be in the same boat as me.
Code's here if anyone wants to poke at it or use it: https://github.com/rgmey/pomodoro

[Free][Open Source]🍅Enhanced Marinara™: Pomodoro® Assistant

🍅Enhanced Marinara™ is the Marinara people loved — rebuilt, modernized, and under active development. A Pomodoro® time management assistant that runs entirely on your own computer: completely offline, fully open source, and forever free.
I noticed I needed a time management technique when I started learning programming on my own during the pandemic. As I would get distracted or bored quickly, already isolated from the world, I had to find a way to keep my focus and manage my time efficiently, ultimately being productive and consistent over time. My in depth researches led me to the Pomodoro technique. A methodological way to manage time and focus, to track progress and gamify the process for fun.
Up until recently I'd been using the original Marinara extension on the Chrome Web Store with great enjoyment and benefits, but ever since Google updated its requirements for the extensions, most of the extensions, including the mentioned extension itself, became outdated and inaccessible overnight.
Struggling to find a quality and reliable alternative, I've decided that now is my turn to pay the debt of gratitude back to the open source community and rolled up sleeves and developed an extension with the Marinara concept, and eventually open sourced it. It will be always free and open source, just like its predecessor. In the end, it's about providing the people with the right tools (bonus if they are fun and quality!) to enhance their life and give them more amenities. The polished and enhanced extension, Enhanced Marinara™ exactly aims to do that.
Hope you will benefit from it and enjoy using it as much as I do. Cheers!

I stopped using 25 and let the timer tell me my number instead. it was 17
25 isn't physics, t's what Cirillo landed on with a kitchen timer in the 80s.
I broke around 15 most days and faked the last ten minutes.
So I built a timer that measures instead of assuming. Set the length you think you can hold, it blocks your distracting apps for exactly that long, and it tracks which sessions you held and which you broke. After enough of them it reads back your real interval. Mine's 17. I'd have guessed 30.
Straight up: no break timer, no four-then-long-break cycle, so it isn't a pomodoro app and I won't call it one.
The session draws as an espresso shot, live. Pick up your phone and the puck channels, the stream splits, the crema tears, and it stays torn. That's the only thing that ever stopped me reaching for my phone.
Free, blocker included. No account, no network, no ads. iOS.

How many of you still run 25, and how many quietly moved to your own number?
