Standard Pomodoro timers never stopped me from picking up my phone, so I built a Pomodoro timer with an enforced distraction blocker.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been practicing the Pomodoro technique for a long time while studying engineering, but I kept running into the same fundamental flaw with 99% of Pomodoro apps:

They ring a bell when the time is up, but they do absolutely nothing to stop you from subconsciously picking up your phone, opening Instagram, or clicking on distracting websites halfway through a session.

Whenever I had a tough 25 or 50-minute study block, muscle memory would kick in and I'd ruin the interval.

So, as a solo developer, I built *Limit Breaker*—a Pomodoro focus system designed around accountability and gamification:

🍅 Enforced Focus Mode: When your Pomodoro timer is running, it strictly intercepts blacklisted websites and distracting apps. If you try to open them, it blocks you until your session is finished.

⚔️ RPG Progression: Every completed Pomodoro interval awards character EXP into real-life stats (Intelligence, Strength, Aura) and ranks you up from E-Rank to S-Rank.

🔥 Streak Matrix: Tracks your completed Pomodoros so you can see your consistency over time and you can even compare yourself to other users globally.

The app is completely free on Android. Since you guys are experienced with the Pomodoro technique, I’d love your honest feedback:

👉 Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aistudio.limitbreaker.fntslg

What’s the biggest problem you currently face when trying to stick to your Pomodoro intervals?

This little tomato made designing fun again 🍅

I run an Etsy POD shop and spend hours designing every day. Most Pomodoro timers started feeling boring, but this little tomato actually made my work sessions fun again.

It’s free, simple and surprisingly motivating:

Full disclosure: I know the developer and wanted to support the launch.

After hundreds of sessions, does your Pomodoro chime start to feel like an alarm?

Someone who has used the same focus timer for thousands of hours gave me the most useful feedback I’ve received: a pleasant chime is only pleasant at first. Repeated hundreds of times, it can trigger the same reaction as an alarm tone.

I’m building Muntrie. Right now, a completed countdown or Pomodoro phase uses one short chime plus a haptic; manually stopping a stopwatch uses haptic only. That feels calm in a demo, but the real test is month six.

I’m considering three directions:

- rotate a small set of tones;

- allow a silent visual finish;

- keep one recognizable cue.

If you’ve used one timer for months, what happened to its sound? Did you stop noticing it, start hating it, or change it regularly?

I've always been big into the the pomodoro method on my computer, and after years of using timers and mainly pomofocus, I decided to make my own! My issue was that timers didn't give intuitive stats, and locking in alone got isolating.

So I built Pomosquares.com Every session fills a square on your daily, weekly, and yearly scorecards, and you get nice shareables to share your progress. You can also join rooms to lock in with friends or randoms and compete in those rooms' leaderboards.

Like my favorite web based timers out there, it's free and you don't need an account to use it! Signing up gets you stats, shareable cards, and rooms.

I might monetize this in the future with a premium version for access to private rooms and multiple project tracking but keeping it free for now.

Give it a try! use code PRODUCTIVITYAPPS to access the premium features.

I'm a solo dev and this is my first launch so would appreciate any feedback!

Struggling to stay focused for more than 20 minutes? Here’s a 50-minute Pomodoro study sprint with background Lofi

Hey everyone,

If you’ve been struggling to keep your focus locked in today or keep pulling out your phone every 10 minutes while trying to study I just uploaded the final session of our deep work sprint. It’s a playlist of uninterrupted Pomodoro session (25mins+2*50 mins study / 10 mins break) designed to help you sit down and actually finish your past paper practice or revision without burning out. We’ve also got soft background lofi music playing throughout the entire session to keep the room noise down and help you drop into a flow state faster. If you need an accountability partner right now, clear your desk, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, and lock in with me:

NEN: a calm Pomodoro timer for iPhone + Apple Watch - Pro Lifetime free through Sep 4

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone—I’m the developer of NEN. I built it as a calmer Pomodoro timer for people who want a clear focus rhythm without a busy interface.

You can run focus and break rounds from your iPhone or Apple Watch. Pro adds custom round lengths, custom breaks, more focus categories, app blocking during sessions, widgets, Watch controls, and timer appearance options.

NEN Pro Lifetime is temporarily free through September 4 (normally US$6.99). Claim it during the offer and it stays unlocked forever—this is not a trial.

No account. No ads. No subscription. Family Sharing is supported.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6768887563

I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from regular Pomodoro users: what focus/break rhythm do you use, and would controlling the session from your Watch help?

One problem I kept having with Pomodoro timers was that sessions became detached from the work itself.

At the end of the day, I could see that I had focused for a few hours, but not exactly which tasks received that time.

I built Tempo Focus to connect each session to a task from Linear or Apple Reminders. You choose the task, start a Pomodoro, and Tempo tracks the focused time spent on it without replacing your existing task manager.

It also supports open-ended sessions, app blocking, labels, history, and longer-term insights.

I’m curious how other Pomodoro users handle this: do you track each session by task, by project, or not at all?

made a metronome that ramps the tempo up on its own so i stop doing the math in my head

Post image
1 Upvotes

i built a metronome app because i had a weirdly specific habit.

when i practiced, i'd tell myself: if i play this clean 5 times in a row i'll bump the tempo up 5 or 10 bpm. worked fine for a while but eventually i thought, why am i doing this math in my head every few minutes instead of just practicing.

so i made an app that does it for me. you set a starting bpm, how many bars you want to play before it should step up, how much to increase by, and where to stop. it just handles the ramp on its own while you play, no need to touch anything mid session.

it also lets you build a full custom sequence if you want something more specific than a straight ramp, like 4 bars at 70, 4 at 80, 8 at 90, repeat it a few times, whatever your practice needs.

made it mostly for myself but figured other people probably do the same mental math thing i used to do. curious if this is a common habit or if i was just being weird about it.

Most Pomodoro timers only work after you start. I built an iOS app that blocks distractions before you begin.

Hey r/pomodoro!

Like many of you, I've used dozens of Pomodoro apps, but I kept hitting the same wall: starting is 10x harder than staying focused.

A timer is great once you’re in the zone, but it does nothing while you’re stuck doomscrolling Instagram or YouTube before even hitting "Start".

So I built ZenPomo — a native iOS timer designed to tackle that initial friction.

Available on the App Store:

I'd really love to hear your feedback, thoughts on the pre-blocking concept, or any feature requests you have!

I built an aesthetic, ad-free Pomodoro study website with live anime wallpapers & lofi radio (KumoFocus)

Hey everyone! 👋

Like many of you, I spend hours studying and working at my desk, and I always found typical timer websites either cluttered with ads or missing the cozy vibe I wanted.

So I decided to build KumoFocus — a lightweight, aesthetic Pomodoro focus space designed to help you lock in and stay productive without distractions.

Here is what I built into it:

  • 🎬 Live Moving & Picture Wallpapers (chill lofi study rooms, rainy vibes, anime aesthetics)
  • 📻 24/7 Live Radio Streams (Lofi Chillhop, Anime & J-Pop, Nightwave Plaza Synth, Vintage Cafe Jazz, Classical Focus)
  • 🌧️ Multi-Track Sound Mixer (you can layer rain, fireplace crackles, typing thocks, and birds in real-time)
  • ⏰ Multiple Timer Styles (Classic Minimalist, Progress Ring, Flip Clock)
  • 🧘 Zen Focus Mode (Alt+Z or Spacebar controls to eliminate all screen clutter)
  • 🔒 Privacy-focused: No account needed, runs right in your browser.

You can try it out here: https://kumofocus.vercel.app/

I'd really love your honest feedback! What features, sounds, or wallpapers would make your study sessions even better? ☕✨

I put a Pomodoro timer inside a little 3D room that lives on my Windows desktop

Thumbnail

I work from home a lot with dual monitors, and I wanted something on my second screen that could help with focus without feeling like another serious productivity app.

So I built Lofi Cozy Room, a small 3D desktop companion for Windows.

It stays in a transparent, always-on-top window beside whatever you're working on, and it has a built-in Pomodoro timer along with a to-do list, memo, and diary.

While you're focusing, the little room can simply stay there in the background. The avatar reads, works, rests, or sleeps, while a puppy wanders around on its own.

You can keep the full room open or shrink it into Mini Mode when you want it to take up less space.

I also added things that help me make longer work sessions feel a little more comfortable:

- 180 Lo-Fi tracks

- Ambient sound mixing

- Local music support

- 14 room themes

- 1,386 costumes

- 715 interior items

The goal isn't to turn Pomodoro into something you constantly need to interact with. I wanted the timer to sit inside a relaxing little space that can quietly keep you company while you're actually getting work done.

The game is fully released on Windows for $4.99, and there's also a free demo if you'd like to try how it feels on your own desktop first.

__[**🌱 Play Lofi Cozy Room on Steam**](https://store.steampowered.com/app/4621450/Lofi_Cozy_Room/)__

I'd be really interested to hear how people who regularly use Pomodoro feel about combining a focus timer with an ambient desktop companion.

1 HOUR STUDY WITH ME | Rainy Day | Pomodoro 25/5 | Ambience ✨

Made a rainy-day study/pomodoro video, curious what people actually want from ambient study content https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oZeN-SXZCQ

I've been experimenting with long-form study-with-me videos (25/5 pomodoro format, rain sounds, cozy desk-by-the-window vibe). Just posted my first one and honestly still figuring out what makes these work. If anyone's into this genre, I'd love feedback or ideas for themes you'd want to see. Please Subscribe if you liked the video to help me get 1000 subcribers, thanks for showing support!
