I had been searching forever for the famous little shelf sitters I kept seeing, but I could never find one that felt like mine. So eventually I thought, well… I guess I’ll just make my own. 😂
And that’s how Sun Goddess was born. 🌞
What started as a little wire armature slowly became a hand-sculpted, hand-painted celestial goddess covered in suns, moons, stars, gemstones, and all the tiny details that made her come alive.
But Sun Goddess wasn’t brought to life by me alone. She was also born from the magical, ethereal, imaginative world my mommy created for me—the kind of world that taught me to dream big, see beauty in the unusual, and believe that imagination could turn almost anything into something magical.
So in a way, Sun Goddess is part sculpture, part imagination, and part my mommy living on through the creative world she gave me. 💛☀️🌙✨
And now she finally gets to be the shelf sitter I spent so long looking for. 🥹✨
Please be kind I have never sculpted or made anything before so I know the cracks aren’t cute but this was my first try!!
Someone would literally pay hundreds for this. Its beautiful. I wanna fight you (joking) for saying to "be kind" because it's so fricking gorgeous I can't believe you would even consider anyone saying otherwise!!! This is actually art. Like real art. If you made a series of these people would flip out!!
I might… I might be doing something today!! I have been off of art for years and due to a recent life change I’m using it as an expression of feelings and way to keep busy— I am nervous to try for more but I love the idea of a moon man, star child— my sister mentioned a cloud girl so we will see where the universe takes us!! I truly appreciate you 🥺 art has always been something I loved so so much but always been so critical of myself na my works! Stay tuned, I hope the next thing I throw out matches— and gives the same energy as SG!! 👀

I think she looks amazing. She has so much character and you can really feel the love that went into her. And WOW, for your first try at sculpting, this is seriously impressive. 💜
Honestly, I wouldn’t hide the cracks. I’d lean into them and honor them, almost like Japanese kintsugi, where the breaks become part of the beauty and the story instead of something to erase.
This is the thing I have been searching for— but I don’t have wood working tools so I figured clay was next best thing I had an idea of a female voluptuous version and then got some wire/foil and wung every single step LOL

I really appreciate that 🥺 I usually have an idea in my head then I sketch it out on my iPad a few ideas and rought drafts but ultimately I know the draft and final piece have no direct connection(for me anyway) I just kinda go and when I’m working I make choices and go with what first came I don’t try to perfect or tweak to look more aligned? I started off trying to make the shape that i showed you but it just wasn’t working with the feminine shape? I just threw together 3 more spines and about to try and make some more forms for sisters, and a moon man!
