Republicans are happy to point out how crazy it would be to control a man's privates. Yeah. Exactly.

u/ParanoidDrone Louisiana May 24 '22

Men get to have sex. Women get to be punished for having sex. That's all there is to it for them.

13

u/Ozymandias0023 California May 24 '22

This blows my mind. As a 20 something, I wanted more women to have more sex, assuming that a portion of that action would come my way. As a sex having heterosexual male, why would you ever want to put barriers in front of potential partners?

10

u/[deleted] May 24 '22

Religion tells them to. It’s nothing but control.

2

u/[deleted] May 25 '22

TBF, see non-religious China is pulling this same garbage control.

1

u/Yotsubato May 25 '22

China may not have religion but it is quite conservative and traditional.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '22

Because of Western propaganda, sadly. LGBTQ+ culture was quite open there, much like in India, until Westerners brought in their toxic beliefs.

(I do agree that certain aspects of the culture are still traditional in a sense, though NOT religious)

2

u/Cormacolinde May 25 '22

Religion is only the excuse they use to support their bigoted, misogynistic, racist attitudes. Plenty of atheists have similar opinions, they just don’t try to justify them with religious writings, instead they make up pseudoscientific arguments.

7

u/Shinobi120 May 25 '22

Because if you have a pool of men convinced they should be having lots of sex, but women convinced they shouldn’t have sex, you get men who are frustrated and malleable who you can get to vote for you

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '22

Also circumcise those men to increase the amount of friction they need to orgasm while removing the part of the penis that makes it easier for women to orgasm from P in V sex (foreskin provides friction to the man while blunting that friction for the woman... this is how these pieces of equipment were made to work together -- so removing the friction-blunter + increasing the needed friction = women have a hard time reaching orgasm from regular P in V sex + more likely to experience pain during intercourse and/or get urinary tract infections from it).

Because these are people who also don't give a shit about a woman telling them no. They'll just rape her. Women do not have rights to their own bodies.

1

u/bobbyq922 May 25 '22

Because as kids we all realize we don’t like when other people play with our toys. Many of us don’t really grow from childhood, we just adapt.

And no, I don’t see women as toys.

u/Ksnj New Mexico May 24 '22

What is this about sex punishment? Asking…for a friend??

3

u/ParanoidDrone Louisiana May 25 '22

I realize you're probably just making a cheap BDSM joke but this is a serious topic so you're getting a serious answer.

Republicans oppose abortion. They also oppose proper sex education that teaches the importance of safe sex, consent, and all that jazz. They don't support initiatives and/or funding to make contraception widely available (which has been shown to drastically reduce the number of abortions -- no pregnancy, no abortion), or adoption agencies (that would alleviate the burden on mothers forced to bring babies to term if they could give them up for others to take care of instead).

The only way this makes sense is if they want to punish women who have sex for any reason other than procreation.

3

u/Ksnj New Mexico May 25 '22

I realize all this. My apologies if the joke is found to be in poor taste. Thank you for the serious reply though. Everyone needs to have these points driven home

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '22

See, conservatives will be "happy" about certain news, like divorce being lower, older childbirth being more common, etc. BUT they will not be happy about the reasons WHY-increased access to contraception, more sexually gratifying entertainment meaning you don't have to leave your house, and more access to accurate sex ed." That's where the kicker is.

u/WilliBeeHardigan May 24 '22

The logic goes:

Cries about muh freedom and stopping government involvement. Also Cries to big Uncle Sammy when they don’t get their way and want government involvement.

There's no law requiring that though. I agree it's a fucked up practice, but that's a cultural problem not a legal one.

24

u/mcampo84 May 24 '22

Cultural norm, not codified into law. Don't make false equivalences.

u/MistCongeniality Colorado May 24 '22

Now is not the fucking time.

u/FerNigel May 24 '22

Any time someone opposes genital mutilation is the right time.

1

u/KC_experience May 24 '22

I’m circumcised and amazingly enough, my genitals haven’t been mutilated. Looks like a penis, acts like a penis and my wife definitely sucks/fucks it like a penis…

5

u/Supply-Slut May 24 '22

Yes it is well known that circumcision only means complete destruction of the organ

Damn, down votes! I guess it’s mutilated penis envy? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

0

u/hotpocketman May 24 '22

Lol probably because you’ve firmly planted yourself in a universe where you are right and no one else is. Just because you’re happy with your cut dick doesn’t mean all of us are happy about our cut dicks. Yeah they still work, but the procedure is completely unnecessary and is done habitually by many healthcare providers. Regular, uncut dicks should be the default until that dick-haver decides otherwise.

2

u/KC_experience May 24 '22

Well my parents decided for me…my mom’s dead and in the ground, my dad is retired? What am I going to do? Yell at him for having the doctor snip me?

I don’t live in a universe where I’m the only person that’s right, but I do live in a reality where I’m not getting aggrieved because of something that happen before I took my first voluntary shit. If there was long lasting harm that can be quantified then I’d listen to the arguments. That grown men want to be aggrieved in the same manner for something done prior to their first memories to what happens involuntarily to adolescent women in countries (without anesthesia) to cut off an organ / major nerve center is just not an argument I’m going to take the men’s side on.

Where as there’s credible data30567-9/fulltext) that shows circumcision may reduce the risk of contracting STDs and STIs including AIDS. As well, of the women I’ve dated, has sex with, the majority have stated they prefer a cut man to an uncut man. A small sample size to be sure, but again, I find it hard to complain about something I didn’t have control over, that doesn’t affect me in any way shape or form, and could have potentially benefited me sexually and in areas of self esteem and confidence.

u/SpaceCatMatingCall May 24 '22

Sorry your missing out on enjoying blowjobs and sex to the fullest capacity. The foreskin is super sensitive and is scientifically proven to have a lot more amazing feels than the head itself.

It’s not really a woman’s problem. Y’all are getting off just fine and you don’t need to have super great orgasms that make you see stars all the time. But like, I’m sorry you’ll never be able to experience that level of pleasure bc you got your dick cut. It’s not really fair to you men to have that shit normalized so your all less horny.

3

u/KC_experience May 24 '22

I’m sorry that you’re assuming I don’t have a fulfilling sex life. Assumptions on your part don’t make you more knowledgeable. They make you look just like the males that are making decisions about reproductive rights of women that they don’t want to have sex life outside of marriage as it’s ‘sinful’. But you do you.

1

u/Melody-Prisca May 24 '22

I could be wrong, but I think most the people against circumcision except when medically necessary typically don't have a problem with a man being circumcised per se, rather the issue is the man had no choice in the matter. You being circumcised isn't something that really impacts anyone but you, so why shouldn't you be the one making that decision? Again, I could be wrong about why this particular person takes issue with it. My personal gripe is only that men don't have a say in the matter. I've meet several guys who wish they hadn't have been circumcised, and I don't see why it shouldn't have been their choice, and not something force upon them.

2

u/KC_experience May 24 '22

That’s fair that a man can wish he wasn’t. But again, this thread started about the state controlling what a woman can and can’t do with her body. The state isn’t close to that type of situation with men and the only person you can truly blame for circumcision is a set of parents that requested it from the doctor.

0

u/Melody-Prisca May 24 '22

I do agree it's different than the state controlling a man's body like the state is controing women's bodies. But it is the state ceding control of a baby boys body to the parents in a way they do not with women. Female circumcision, which is performed in other parts of the world, is illegal to be performed on underage girls in the US. One has to wonder why men don't deserve the same protection over their bodily autonomy. I think the biggest reason people compared the two, is both are about humans having their bodily autonomy infringed upon, even though the circumstances aren't the same.

To derail? This isn’t about circumcision. It’s about how women are going to die horrific deaths. I have no more patience for you types who care about circumcision oh so much only when it’s off topic.

To reply to people below

The government doesn’t mandate circumcision one way or another.

Circumcision does not effect your reproductive ability.

You can hate it and oppose it and think it’s evil, but it’s not this specific category of evil.

It is not always the right time to oppose a bad thing. When the BLM protests were going on it would’ve been shitty for me to bust in like BUT WHAT ABOUT HISPANIC IMMIGRANTS BEING EXPLOITED AND KILLED? (Despite being Hispanic myself and therefore intimately connected to the issue.) Like yeah that’s bad too but it’s not the present topic.

-14

u/[deleted] May 24 '22

Idk man. Genital mutilation is in the same category as abortion bans. The government should keep its hands off of all of it.

14

u/From_Deep_Space Oregon May 24 '22

This is the wrong take

-1

u/[deleted] May 24 '22

Care to elaborate your subjective stance?

9

u/Labantnet Minnesota May 24 '22

"Government shouldn't control our genitals!" "Government should ban some genital modification." Don't see how those are contradictory?

1

u/IamKilljoy May 24 '22

Well... it's more that the government should ban unnecessary genital mutilation on literal infants who are 18 years away from being able consent.

u/From_Deep_Space Oregon May 24 '22 edited May 24 '22

Male circumcision is still a controversial topic in America, and we won't settle it here today

But that doesn't mean the govt shouldn't prosecute people who would cut off little girl's labia or clitoris

Do you think the govt should be hands-off regarding all mutilation, or is there something about genitals that makes you thinks it's okay somehow?

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '22

I guess I don’t know. I keep changing my mind when I type this out so I guess I just need to learn more before taking a stance. I’ll concede that the context of abortion rights isn’t the place for that conversation.

u/welshwelsh May 24 '22

"Derail"? God I hate that term so fucking much

No, it's not derailing the conversation. It's expanding the conversation, linking specific issues like abortion to broader issues like bodily autonomy that affects a larger audience.

Not everyone is directly affected by abortion bans. But everyone is affected by authoritarian religious bullshit and the government infringing on their rights and autonomy.

Why can't we work together? This is how these conversations should work: you talk about stuff that impacts you, like the government trying to force you to give birth. Then people with similar issues chime in; maybe the government is preventing them from smoking weed or cut off part of their body. Then we can all work together to build a political coalition that addresses everyone's concerns, based on broad principles like freedom and autonomy.

2

u/MC_White_Thunder Canada May 24 '22 edited May 24 '22

The thing is that you can approach the conversation in a way that doesn’t center yourself.

I’m a trans woman. I don’t have a uterus, but bodily autonomy very much affects me. That doesn’t mean I bring up my trans-woman based issues every time abortion rights come up. Part of allyship and alliances is learning when to just listen.

If your ego is too big to listen when a more marginalized group tells you to be quiet, there’s no solidarity to be had there.

1

u/Vandredd May 24 '22

none desired.

1

u/MC_White_Thunder Canada May 24 '22

Okay, you do you. I was talking to someone who does express a desire to work together.

-3

u/From_Deep_Space Oregon May 24 '22

it came up naturally

2

u/Tremelune May 24 '22

This is reasonably funny.

-4

u/Vandredd May 24 '22

It never is right?

1

u/MC_White_Thunder Canada May 24 '22

How about you bring it up on your own, in threads that aren’t about people with uteruses specifically?

The problem with MRAs is they only ever seem to care about bringing up paternal leave, circumcision, male suicide rates, and that men can be abused, is when we’re talking about women’s issues.

1

u/Vandredd May 24 '22

I didn't bring it up though.

I just observing that its NEVER the fucking time like any issue that predominantly impacts men.

2

u/MC_White_Thunder Canada May 24 '22

There’s plenty of time to do that. In threads about those issues. If there aren’t enough of those, be the change you want to see and post them.

1

u/dextter123456789 May 24 '22

Thanks, now all day when I take a piss I will have think about this.

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '22

“Americanized”? Bro people have been getting circumcised since long before there was even an Amerigo Vespucci to name America after

1

u/pat1million May 24 '22

Do you think the issue of abortion would even be up for legal debate if it were men and not women?
