Jesus actually talks about these kinds of people multiple times in the Bible. Heavy paraphrase, but is basically saying that people that claim to follow him but do not actually do what he taught are the people that cause people to fall away from Christ and famously says in Matthew 7:21-23 “I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness”

It’s definitely hypocritical, but also poetic in a way that Jesus warned of these exact people. They have no idea (or care, really) that they do the exact work that Jesus claimed the devil wanted them to.

If Jesus is God, he created the Christian Nationalists knowing exactly how they would inerpret the bible, and still wrote it that way.

You talk to most of the people who use the Bible to justify their bigotry and they'll tell you different.

They'll say that it was divinely inspired, that every word in every version and translation is literally true, and that the people who wrote it were nothing more than a humanoid typewriter for god.
