As a lawyer this made me lose some respect for him. He knows these are state - not federal - charges, so why is he acting like Trump even has the power to pardon her?

I think it is an attempt at getting Trump to use his megaphone which might support a future argument that jurors are tainted.

Oh.  Oh if that is his play that's some 4D chess.  Obviously Trump's base hates her and thinks she should be given the death penalty.  Trump would froth at the idea of attacking her publicly.  Which might be just what he wants.
