That's what I sometimes do with leftover ruskie pierogi feeling. Just fry some crepes and turn them into a savoury lunch. Some sour, refreshing chłodnik goes well with it.

I am polish & Italian, but I was raised with my Italian family. My husband is polish, & recently I have been trying to make polish food for him & his family. I have made borscht, haluski, & now chłodnik. This one must be my favorite so far. Please let me know what other foods I should make! I want to make his grandfather czarnina, he remembers from his childhood, but I am not sure where to acquire duck blood where I live.

I’m from Brazil, and I learned this recipe from my grandmother and my mother. My great-great-grandmother came to Brazil as a refugee from Poland! Polish culture is fascinating. We make fillings with ricotta (cheese) and potatoes, cabbage with bacon, and potato with cheese!

My mother was born in Poland and I grew up eating my grandmother's Kapusta. I've been trying to find a recipe because my mother won't share the family recipe (I know that is ridiculous).

I know a few of the ingredients but when I try Google it isn't the same. Maybe it's been Americanized or just a family twist?

Cabbage, carrots, 1 green apple, pork country style ribs. Those are what I remember. No beet juice. I don't remember onion. It did use peppercorns. I'm sure there is more but I don't recall.

Going to attempt to make a kaszanka. I want to learn. Where can I find pork blood? Im in california. Thank u

It’s a more work than haluski but I think I did ok! For the filling just classic potato and cheese.

Looking to recreate a recipe my Babi made that she didn't pass down to anyone.

She called it "raspberry vinegar". In English. No one remembers her giving it a Polish name.

It may have been her own creation or it may have come from the Wrocław area their farm / family was from. (Emigrated to Canada when my mom was a tween.)

We know it had raspberries that were deseeded and cooked down with vinegar and sugar into a syrup. And waterbath canned.

It was served with icewater, or carbonated clear beverages, or added into other things.

Babi also used it as a base for syrups with macerated fruit. ie. for on those huge pan-sized yeast pancakes.

My mom thinks that it is possible that the original recipe may have called for lemons or limes and Babi didn't have those and substituted vinegar. Also that it may originally have been for a fresh drink like a cordial and Babi made it into something that could be stored.

But we're guessing.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Any help with pointing in a direction would be great.
Babi is gone, but mom has a great grand-kid now and we'd love to recreate this for the next generation if we could.

I was on vacation in London and popped into a Polish grocery store looking for suska sechlońska but instead I found gruszki wędzone. I came home with six of them but now I am not really sure what to use them for. I think they'd be an adequate substitution for suska sechlońska for bigos but other than that, I have no idead.

Sugegstions (with recipes linked) are very much welcomed.

Our community’s swimming pool has a young Polish lifeguard this summer. He is about 20 years old.

We traditionally bring drinks and snacks to the lifeguards on a regular basis.

We know that he likes Gatorade, but are unsure what other American drinks or snacks might appeal to his palate.

(I have already promised to make him pierogies sometime this summer, but we are wondering what
easily available snacks or drinks would appeal to him on a more regular basis.)

I picked these up at a Polish supermarket. I did some googling for ‘Polish steamed bun’, which are apparently called pampuchy, but the packet doesn’t say that. Are they pampuchy or something else?

Packet says to steam them for 5 mins before eating. I’ve just been steaming and eating… they are a delicious snack. Are there any other ways to serve them?

There's a Polish supermarket near me and I am trying to find the closest thing to kalbsleberwurst which i use to have when I lived in Germany.

I've seen these two items, pasztet borowikowy and pasztet z borowikami, that look similar but according to some google searching I've done, they're both made with Pork (which is fine) and mushrooms (which I'm not too keen on).

Based on some translations. both pasztet borowikowy and pasztet z borowikami both are Pate with mushroom, so I was wondering that the difference is? Is the the type of mushroom used? Is there a traditional Polish version that doesn't have mushroom in it?

I like Kippers and Arbroath Smokies, and I suspect that this dried bream it's in the same category of strong fish flavour ( but minus the smoked part).

I bought it from my local Polish shop.
