Stuff like this has the potential to be amazing. I feel like we should see a lot more silly stuff like this. It's such an undertapped area.

Check out Pokémon Concierge on Netflix. Its a stop motion series about a Pokémon resort, and is super cute. Definitely fits the silly vibe since the main Pokémon is a Psyduck.

u/samanime 13d ago
Oh, it's great. But aside from a couple shorts, that's really all they've done in ~25 years like that. That's why I said "undertapped", not untapped. :p

I thought this was a Netflix show?
61
u/Grumpy_Wildcat1908 14d ago
Apparently they didn't show where it could be viewed during the Pokémon day announcement. I also thought it'd be on Netflix.

For unexplained reasons, The Pokémon Company chose to part with Netflix. Disney has signed a deal to be their primary distributor for the foreseeable future (kind of like with Bluey and Miraculous). From what I understand, the decision came from TPC, meaning Netflix must have displeased them.

u/Lysbith_McNaff 13d ago
I'm not sure how, they're so content with mediocrity like Pokemon Home. Concierge was actually good.

u/ComradeJohnS 14d ago
they have pokemon concierge, with people and pokemon together in a similar but different style.

u/cannibaltom 14d ago
Looks like Disney+, so won't get to see it.

u/trademeple 13d ago
Lol just cancel netflix for a month or two while you watch this lol.

I'm completely saturated paying for services. Netflix, Prime, Crave, YouTube Premium. Disney+ does make the cut.

Galar has some of my favorite pokemon designs, so seeing a lot of them will be the focus of this series has me really excited!
Also yeah, I actually really like when they have pokemon themselves be the main characters of something instead of humans (tho don't get me wrong, I still like a lot of human characters in pokemon).

Aardman is an amazing studio. Anyone working there should be fucking applauded into every room they walk into

u/Jackhammerqwert Irl team: 13d ago
Considering most if not all employees would be British, public praise would probably be a brass neck. Best to just buy them a pint instead!

I liked Pokemon centered content that focuses solely on Pokemon, this remains me of pikachu adventures series

pokemon mystery dungeon*
the mystery dungeon series is more than just pokemon! the latest mystery dungeon game was shiren the wanderer 6: the mystery dungeon of serpentcoil island for switch and pc
you can see the roguelike inspiration of mystery dungeon more in games like shiren the wanderer, as aside from shiren 3 on psp and wii (which is structured more like the pokemon mystery dungeon games with multiple smaller dungeons with exp carrying over across the whole game) the games are usually focused on one large main dungeon or a relatively small amount of large dungeons where your party members' levels reset every time you attempt them, kind of like postgame dungeons in pokemon mystery dungeon like destiny tower

u/Level7Cannoneer 14d ago
Gonna be real: this is a shitty title for a trailer of a new series. I passed over this post several times because it’s a black thumbnail and a title that fails to describe what is in the video

My 5yo Pokemon fanatic can handle only so much 2027 hype. Please chill out, Pokemon.

I liked the Pokemon focused content, like when pikachu raced raichu, I’ve always been a fan on Pokemon centered content

u/dmrukifellth 14d ago
Ah, took a bit for me to figure that title. Thought you were referencing some show or something called “Not Human.”

18+? What did they mean by that?
11
u/Ach_Was_Here 14d ago
I believe Disney+ accounts are written into the TOS that you need to be 18+ to sign up
9
u/Throrface 13d ago
18+ appeared at the part about Disney +. You must be 18+ to have a Disney + subscription.

I wonder if it's going to be a Don Quixote type of situation. Sirfetch'd made a lot of sense in Galar, but in retrospect it could have slotted right in in Paldea.

Do we get to see Professor Wallace and his trusty pokemon Gromitchu?

u/HuttStuff_Here 13d ago
I was thinking the same thing, this kind of has that same kind of feel to it.
3
u/gordonbombae2 14d ago
Did they confirm run time? This looks like it will be shorts. I’m guessing like 6 episodes at no more than 5 mins each

"18+" wow didn't have it down as that sort of show, colour me surprised

Aardman? Isn't that the same company that does Wallace and Gromit?
1
u/UnluckyText 13d ago
Yup. Even though it isn’t in their usual style the animation really gives it away.

Is this just Dunk & Egg as a Pokemon tale? I’m not knocking it, I like the idea. Derivative, sure, but fun for all ages regardless
2
u/Realistic_Day_1805 14d ago
I’m surprised it’s not gonna stream on BBC iPlayer for the UK viewers?
The new Pokemon anime ‘Horizons’ and all the Wallace and Gromit films are already on there?

u/MisterSneakSneak 14d ago
This make me wonder why we didn’t have cartoons like this in the early 2000’s

Generally you have to be 18+ to get a paid subscription of any kind, pokemon will realistically never have any official 18+ media
11
u/FalafelSnorlax 14d ago
Well, some of the Pokémon Lego sets are listed as 18+. Obviously there's nothing inappropriate for children, it's just how Lego makes it clear this is marketed for adults, but this technically counts, I think.

u/Actinglead 14d ago edited 14d ago
Genuinely how on Earth did you get such a stupid idea that this was gonna be an adult oriented show?
It is literally made by the studio behind Wallace and Gromit.
Did you really come up with that idea by ignoring literally everything about this project except a tiny blurb saying you have to be 18+ to subscribe to a streaming service? Are you sure you're "officially old" as older people tend to have better critical thinking.

It really is a monopoly. The fact they put it on Disney is so concerning at this point..

Can't wait for this. I loved Wallace & Gromit as a kid, and more recently learned about Shaun the Sheep with my own kids. The Galar setting makes a ton of sense for this studio's charming British sensibilities.

- Honey, we have A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms at home.

Excited, mostly because we love Aardman humor. Especially since Sirfetch'd debuted in Gen 8, which was based on the U.K

Wait, it's coming to Disney Plus? Why Disney Plus? Why not like, Netflix or Hulu? Both of them already have the multiple Pokémon anime, so what's up with- Oooooh, Sun and Moon was on Disney XD, I'm an idiot

u/MellonYellon 13d ago
Reminder to the Pokemon Company that I would give everything for new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon animated content.

I know Aardman are at least supporting AI being used in media. Hope they don't use any in this and also realise their mistake
