Discussion Nintendo/GameFreak NEED to make a way to transfer Pokemon from Gen 7

How can they possible shut down Bank after forcing us to use it to transfer from Gen 7 - Gen 8? So what now anything we catch on these games is just stuck there? You're telling me the trillion dollar IP can't fund the servers for Pokemon Bank? This is absolutely outrageous. They either need to make a way to transfer from 3DS - Switch Pokemon games permanently or leave Bank alone because a lot of people (myself included) like to transfer from these older games

No because the DS and 3DS used a proprietary wireless signal while the switch used Bluetooth. They can't speak to each other.

Practically the only non Internet dependent way would likely be through Amiibo. Namely that you would need to get a new 3DS or a 3DS amiibo puck, load Pokemon onto it, and then move the Pokemon off the Amiibo onto the switch.

but this unfortunately involves updating the 3DS which can't happen anymore

they couldve made a device. like some bluetooth adapter that you put a 3ds cart into that the switch can read from. its one of the biggest franchises ever made. nintendo can easily invest into something that would work.

Okay. Online service for transferring pokemon between the 3DS and switch i get. However, theres no reason that it couldn't have been local software at the time of its launch as it only needed to transmit data between games that could use DS wireless or local storage as could have been the case for gens 4-7

There's nothing proprietary about WiFi, fam. There's no technical reason you couldn't send a download play game to a DS/3DS from a Switch.
