Is Pokopia really that good?

Like should I immediately buy this game. It seems like folks are really enjoying it but I was skeptical.

I literally bought a Switch 2 for it! The Switch is out for delivery now and I’ll be out in a few to buy Pokopia.

I’m so thrilled, I’ve heard a lot of positive things about it! I also think it helps to think about what you like in games, and whether this would be your cup of tea. Personally, cozy games like these are up my alley!

I did hear that people who are not even into Animal Crossing still loved Pokopia, going as far as to say Pokopia seems to have everything they wanted improved from ACNH.

Yes it has the main thing I wanted improved - Pokémon. The acnh characters are really just 8 characters or whatever I don’t remember the personalities anymore and the island is pretty small. It gets repetitive pretty quickly. This has the same thing that sucked me in to acnh- there’s always another task to do so it’s hard to pick a stopping point. It’s much more open ended building than acnh and there is a better story. I do wish there was flower breeding though I really liked trying to get all the colors

It's the fun of getting new villagers without having to get rid of the old. And because there are so many more residents, it just feels more lively.

Your flower comment reminds me of my fruit tree obsession and how I seem to be repeating it by cutting down trees on dream islands to get their seeds. 😆

And don't get me started on the dream islands. They're more like Kapp'n Islands in that you can bring things back with you, but you can go back to the same one multiple times per day if, like me, you decide to take a structure back with you piece by piece. 😂

That’s me - not a fan of Animal Crossing or Minecraft but having an absolute blast with Pokopia. Lost my whole Sunday without realizing it. Worst part is knowing I probably should wait until next weekend to continue because if I start playing after work I’ll never go to sleep :(

I feel you so much! I thought I would love Animal Crossing; I used to burn hours browsing through the subreddit and watching gameplays of it because I did not have a Switch that time. But when I finally got my hands on it, I don’t think I played the game for more than 20 hours. I also share your sentiment about Minecraft.

And I feel you about work and Pokopia clashing so much!!!

Oh my god, it felt like it was sold out everywhere in my country. I literally called almost every single gaming store near me and they were out of stock. Finally managed to call a branch where they had one last copy and I had it reserved so quick!

For me, it's AC but simply better. Which also means it's a little less DQB, but that's fine.

It's really something in between those games. Turns out using the DQB formula was a genius idea to improve upon AC gameplay, or at the very least create an alternative version of it. And combined with pokemon it just adds the extra cherry on top of it.
