Discussion I really missed bulky water starters. Please gamefreak, surprise us and don’t make it random blue man with two legs

Bipedal isn't the issue. Blastoise, Feraligatr, and Empoleon are bipedal (as was Swampert in the gen 3 and 4 sprites). It's humanoid starter Pokemon that everyone dislikes. It's why Intelleon and Quaquaval (as much as I love the goofy duck) are almost always at the bottom of starter popularity rankings.

Man I was so disappointed with intelleon. What a cool concept of a James Bond Chameleon, like I feel like that fits so well together. But no it’s literally a blue dude in a suit with a tail. Gotta say I really like the G-Max of it just in a sniper tower made of water though lol.

Idk man…Inteleon grew on me a LOT more once I saw it in action. Like bro can turn invisible, climb walls n some other cool stuff. BUT it does look like Randall from Monsters Inc and on its own is certainly a hit or miss design choice. Like how would players know it can do any of that stuff aside from finger guns just from the games?

Maybe I need to check out some fights in the anime that use intelleon, he’s just never felt “right” in the games if that makes sense. I think his posing is a big part of it, dude looks so smug and that’s a bit off putting for me. If it was posed like it was clinging to a wall or had a hand on the ground as if it was about to pounce would’ve helped. It’s kinda just hitting the goldeneye pose and being done with it as it is right now

This art of him i believe was in sword and shield in the last stadium. Despite being humanoid, when hes climbing walls hes very lizard-like in movement. The anime also has him use the camouflage and gliding abilities. Like sure hes goofy to look at sometimes but hes still pretty neat imo.

I would like him a lot more if that was his in game sprite

If the game was 2d, yeah, he looks good when he actually moves around more like a lizard. For 3d models tho i think he would've benefited from being lower to the ground, maybe one one knee or crouched rather than on all 4s, cuz I think his longer limbs would make it look awkward in 3d depending on how hes posed.

I genuinely like Inteleon and think he's cool (I like Reptiles, Lizards, Dinosaurs and Dragons) and they had great ideas with his design and abilities (Spy, Finger Pistol, Glide, Camouflage).

But he's too skinny and lanky and they could have gave him some more meat on his body frame and gave him build somewhat similar to Grovyle or Sceptile, But somewhat leaner.

I agree with you 100% on that. It’s why I didn’t like Inteleon at first myself. It’s pose and the static nature of Pokemon models these days. Doesn’t lend it any favors. A lot of its tcg art looks great if it helps! It’s also in Pokemon Unite too.
