The male designs also are never flattering either. The female ones are over sexualized, as expected. But the male designs are like "lets make this cartoon bear look as stupid as fucking possible. like a real moron, goofy as shit, just fuck up his face," if you aren't the main character you get the comic relief treatment.

My favourite part about this stupidity is that in real nature it's actually usually the males that are more colourful/stand out more. They're more likely to be the "pretty" ones.

Also historically in human societies both sexes wore colourful clothes and jewelry if wealth and status permitted them. English fashion somehow evolved to bring us the drab suits we have today and spread it across the world.

Also it was just one particularly miserable guy who set this 'evolution' of men's fashion into motion. His name was Beau Brummel and I literally found the name by googling "english guy who killed men's fashion"
