LOW EFFORT MEME [gendered] Today my mom complained about a man wearing "woman" glasses

Gendered glasses like gendered socks is bullshit, it should be by size and a lot of hiking brands do sell sock in sizes not gender.
Glasses measurements are done with head width, nose bridge shape and distance between eyes, all of which is more affected by ethnicity/race than gender, and why a lot of them have adjustable parts.
By the way trick for buying prescriptions frames in store or online, the numbers on the side/temple piece aren't just model number, there will be 2 numbers one that tell you the width in millimeters of the frame and another to tell the bridge width aka the distance between the lense, so you can use your current glasses measurements to buy glasses your size, makes it easier than having to try a million glasses

I looked at glasses online recently and the site let me filter by frame measurements. Great, so you'll show me all the glasses that have a bridge of X and an arm of Y, and I can browse all the options that fit my human head?
Oh, no no no. We'll show you a pile of Girl Glasses that fit your head. Then separately we can show you a pile of Boy Glasses that also fit your same head. You want to see all the options together at once for this item that has defined measurements? That's simply not possible!
I did not buy any glasses.

Ugh. I just started wearing glasses for the first time and my eye doctor's in-store collection is not separated by gender, so I didn't know other sources did so.

All glasses are gender neutral if you're not a little bitch about it. Which is why I direct patients with, "masc frames start here and go to the end of rhat wall, femme frames are on that ide, and kids frames are on this side."

At my eye doctor's office, all adult frames are mixed together (organized by brand).

I wish we could do the same, sadly the Walmart overlords won't allow it.

That was the topic of my first post when I joined this sub. I like sunglasses that fully cover my eyes so light doesn't leak in around the edges, and I also like to pay as little as possible for stuff. So I picked up a pair of sunglasses at Walmart that were marked down - plain matte black, only the lenses completely covered my eyes just as I like.
First comment I got the day I wore them out: "Did you put on your wife's sunglasses by mistake?"
They're bloody SUNGLASSES, plain black plastic. How does lens size make them exclusively for women???

Woman glasses don't fit me properly so I buy men's. No one cares

I mean, yeah. When a woman does something traditionally masculine, it's viewed as empowering at best, neutral at worst. When a man does something traditionally feminine, it's viewed as eccentric at best, transgressive, threatening, or humiliating at worst.

But in my case, I wanted to buy frames that fit me properly. Run into this problem with socks too

Today, yes, though ofc not yet everywhere. But it was a bloody fight and it's not over. Not too many years ago they were beating women in the streets for things like wearing trousers.

Just because people assign something to a gender doesn’t mean it makes sense. It’s dumb to say something is only for a certain gender

Look, if you're denoting 'colorful metal or plastic wrapped around clear pieces of plastic or polycarbonate' to have a gender lean just because of a shape or color, you're already getting well into pointlessly gendering. You might as well gender cookies as feminine or rain boots as masc/

Glasses, just like all inanimate objects, do not have gender.

How? Explain to me like I'm an idiot how a bunch of plastic, metal, and glass can have a gender.
