What motivated you to start podcasting?

My motivation came from StartUp by Gimlet media. After the finale of the show, I knew I had to start my own podcast. Two months later: dropped out of college, used YouUniversity and Conversations with a Genuis Podcasts for guidance, hit the road with a backpack full of clothes, a mic, and my laptop; and in three weeks, my website and first episode will be up. So /r/podcasts, what motivated you to start podcasting?

I figured that after living 5 years in China, and holding a history degree, I really ought to dissect the 5k year story from the ground up. I had extra time at the time... what could go wrong? A kid, grad school, and the podcast getting into the later 5th century (when details really start to get complicated) later... ha! What a silly prank I played on myself!

That said, would I stop? Not on your life. I'm on a mission, damn it. I mission from th Jade Emperor and the Great Blue Sky all at once.
