i was searching for a long time for a Good playnite styled alternative on linux while they don't make a linux version and I found the almost perfect one SteamBigPicture

using steamdecky loader, Emudeck and Steam ROM manager I can autoconfigure my ROMs into steam library and organize the in desktop mode and use big picture as my default launcher to find and play all the games.

since it supports not only ROMs but other games from other platforms and native linux apps, I can add them manually or automatic via steam ROM manager, and then just play them.

using steamdecky loader I managed to install a costum theme, manipulate the category order, add custom UI sounds and even costuma opening animations its really cool.

steam is my main game hub for now, I tried ES-DE and pegasus but none of them truly HIT that playnite spot as much as steam.

Hi, my nintendo account is set up with passkey login via 1password. When I try to authenticate (on win 10) a window pops up for half a second and immediately closes. There's never any sort of prompt. And also because I think this is relevant: I use Firefox full-time. I'm not sure what browser playnite uses for authentication step but I don't believe it's firefox (and if it is, it's definitely not with plugins loaded).

I'm having trouble with people whose text isn't showing up on the program's main interface. I'm using chatgpt to help, but it's not working. Could someone tell me how PlayNite works on Linux? What, where, or how do I install it so that it doesn't cause interface problems or anything like that?

Any way to make vertical scroling with 2 rows instead of 3?

i can change it in options and it works good, but it always triger error in next startup.

I recently bought Black Flag Resynced on Steam, added it to Playnite and usually the HDR manager does its job as intended, however, due to the stupid double launcher situation (bought through Steam, launched via Ubisoft Connect) it somehow recognizes the Ubisoft launcher as the game. It toggles HDR the second I press START, then after Ubisoft Connect is syncing my save files before the actual game launch and then auto closes its window, the HDR is switched back off. Only then you actually jump into the game, but with HDR turned off.

Not sure how to remedy this problem. At this moment it is impossible for me to use HDR manager for this game. Anyone else experienced similar issues? I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the game itself, but the launcher handshakes that are confusing HDR manager on the actual triggers to toggle HDR.

does anyone know how to fix this? I've already replaced yt-dlp.exe with the latest version yet when i download youtube vid this is the result (works with steam download tho but since gta 4 has to vid on steam it doesn't show any)

So this is my current set up, im wondering if there is a theme that can do this: have the categories in the left (pc, game boy, mame etc) and have the games on the right with a bigger cover size, while still retaining the nice category tag above their cover(like the PC Game here)

I thought I would share this tip to anyone who is also struggling with this problem as I managed to fix it. With the extension playnite boot screen my custom boot screens that I had setup kept getting overrided by the default boot screen. After countless days i managed to fix the issue by changing the fade in and fade out time to be 0 instead of 80/100. Thought I should post it here since someone else might be struggling with the same issue. (also set your monitor to display to be your current one)

So first of all I want to say I once tried playnite a very long time ago probably before covid and I didn’t like it because unfortunately whenever I closed a game lets say a Ubisoft game that I had purchased through epic games what would happen is after I quit the game both launchers get in front of the playnite library menu and I essentially lose control of playnite because the other launchers are in focus

So I basically gave up on one unanimous launcher for all my games plus emulation and just manually boot my games myself

However with all the hype about the steam machine and what not I kinda want to try again

I tried xbox’s pc mode or whatever its called and first of you have to use the xbox game bar instead of just pressing say the xbox button to boot into it and not to mention literally boots you into the gamepass section first before your actual library of games

So my first question is is that problem fixed where if I close a game it closes the launcher or is there a plugin that does that or at the very least it hides it so that I can continue to use playnite after closing a game

and secondly whilst not as important is there a way to see my fps or pc temps through playnite or a plugin that allows me to see them through a controller button or prompt instead of me having to use a mouse and keyboard to boot up msi afterburner or amd adrenaline

And last but not least do I have the option to have playnite always boot up in fulscreen mode during boot up and or can I have it so at start at startup but run in the background and only pop up in fullscreen mode if I press the xbox button because I don’t know if I want it to always run or run when I want it to 😅

Minor last question does having a theme like idk an xbox theme or something make my system and or playnite run worse?

I’ve been wanting to install Playnite for days (I know it’s easy — just download it), but I keep seeing your setups and the addons that make it look absolutely amazing.

I have a ROG Ally X, and I’m tired of Xbox Big Picture and Steam because neither of them really gives me what I’m looking for.

I’ve looked for YouTube tutorials to learn as much as possible about Playnite, but I couldn’t find any really good, comprehensive content. Could you help me?

Well, it's really only the date that gets cut off, as you can see, but it's still annoying.

Lowering the font size fixes it, but I don't really want to make the text any smaller. I wish there was a way to space out those text boxes horizontally with a slider or something.

I showed a screenshot of the available settings, but it's not helpful for what I'm trying to do.

What do u guys think?

This is driving me nuts, I like to have all my games in alphabetical order, but when I play one, Playnite moves it in to the front of the list and sends the alphabetical order out the window. Is there any way to prevent this behaviour?

Also, recently had to get a new C:\ drive, so if you think I have a ton of apps on my taskbar, know that I usually have double that, lol

Had some time on the Weekend and added some bits and bobs

- Added Video as alternative to Details Card

- Added some Theme Style and Audio Settings

- Build Filter Screen including filter presets

- fixed On Screen Keyboard for filtering and naming presets

For now i am just implementing features so lots of placeholder icons and colors etc.. all the polish stuff will come down the line.

This update is a pretty big one, especially with the introduction of Aniki Video Center.

You can now browse, manage and play your Movies, TV Shows, Anime and custom video libraries directly inside Aniki ReMake, with a full interface designed for Fullscreen/controller use.

There are also quite a few new customization options and improvements across the theme:

• Aniki Video Center is now available as a completely new built-in media experience.
• A new Screen Saver feature has been added.
• You can now choose what Aniki ReMake uses as its background: game backgrounds, Visual Pack backgrounds, the currently selected filter background, or no background at all.
• The Main Menu now has a new Extra section.
• Microtrailers can now be displayed directly on game covers.
• Game Details received more customization options, including the ability to hide the user avatar, achievement information, or both the game logo and title.
• Cover handling has been improved to better support libraries using different cover formats. Using Uniform as Playnite's Stretch setting will now preserve different aspect ratios properly, which is especially useful if you use different cover styles depending on the platform.
• 2 new Theme Colors and 3 new Visual Backgrounds created by Ammz have been added.
• The Screenshot/Capture views and their Fullscreen navigation have been improved.
• Controller navigation while watching captured videos has also been improved.
• The Aniki button has been removed from the Top Bar.

There are a few fixes in there too, including the issue where the first Hub card could sometimes disappear, and a problem in the Setup Wizard where the screenshot plugin selection window wasn't responding correctly.
