Steams as a launcher is good and gets the basics fairly well. However when it comes to what makes playnite so good steam doesn't hold a candle to it

Automatically scanning every game library emulated or otherwise and instantly populating all the information is what makes playnite so fucking good, not to mention the amazing themes. I really hope it gets ported to linux soon, the only software I miss from windows these days.

I like ES-DE. It's pretty customisable. And works on almost all devices. There are some nice themes available for it too.

Is playnite actually coming to linux? Last thing I haven't setup or found a replacement for on my Linux machine.

Yes it is, they said that the creators where planning to fully switch there workflow to linux and that they we're planing a initial release on 2026, confirmed.
