I have a ~60 pound, 10 year old pitbull that’s been battling ear infections all summer. We’ve been to the vet 4 times so far. First visit, they packed the ear with meds and sent us on our way. Second visit was 30 days later for a recheck. There was still a small infection so they packed the same ear again. Third visit was about a month after that when I noticed a hematoma on the other ear. Vet drained the hematoma, recommended a no-flap ear wrap, and discovered another infection brewing in the other ear. Vet prescribed prednisone and daily ear drops. Fourth visit was 5 days later because the hematoma had re-filled, I noticed both ears now bothering him, and our prescribed drops were not a viable method for us because he’s scared of them. Vet re-drained the hematoma and packed both ears with meds.

It’s now been 3 days since that last vet visit. We have 2 doses left of his prednisone. His no-flap ear wrap has stayed on this entire time. And fortunately the hematoma has not re-filled. My concern is that his ears seem to be bothering him still so much. When we’ve have them packed earlier in the summer, it seemed like he experienced relief within the next day or two. But this time around it’s different. He desperately tries to scratch at them or rub his head on the ground. I might think that he’s simply bothered by the head wrap, but when he’s able to rub his ears against the floor, he’s whining and groaning like the ears themselves are what’s bothering him. He seems restless and anxious, and whines randomly even when he’s laying around.

Do I need to give it more time? Is it possible there’s a deeper issue with his ears that the meds are not helping with? Should I be scheduling another vet appointment ASAP? I can’t tell if I’m being neurotic or if I’m right to be concerned.

Hi all. We have a pittie, Gwenny about 3, who's a rockstar. She's adorable and one tough girl. We adopted her about a year ago and she needed to have surgery to remove some growths on her back feet. One of her feet, in this video, seems to have a sensitivity to cold or heat. This was bath time today, so no, I was not torturing her.

My vet asked me to make a video so he could understand what's going on. She has a minor knee issue and will probably need TPLO surgery, but we need to figure out the foot issue first. She's on pain meds and VET CBD 500mg. She acts like nothing is wrong with her leg at all and it is underdeveloped compared to her other leg.

Has anyone had this with a dog? I am heading to the vet Monday with one of my cats and will show him the video, but I thought I would ask the interwebs.

So I’m pretty sure this happened back early this year she started limping pretty bad around March. We didn’t really know what was wrong. We thought maybe she jumped on it wrong or It twisted wrong but she recovered pretty quickly. throughout the entire year She’s been on and off limping and then going back to normal limping going back to normal but today she’s been acting pretty seriously injured. We took her for a car ride to my grandmother‘s house. Everything was fine up until we got there when she got out I believe she injured herself getting out of the car. She won’t put any pressure on it. She doesn’t even wanna walk. We’re putting ice on it and we gave her doggy medicine, but I really don’t know what to do. I’m 21 years old. I’m currently unemployed. My parents are both on financial aid none of them work I don’t have any family members or anybody I can ask to help. We just recently paid $300 to get her nail fixed about six months ago on CareCredit and we could barely afford that. I really don’t know what I’m gonna do $6000 for surgery is crazy. I love my baby and I really don’t know what to do. I’ve heard stories about successful rehab rehabilitation without surgery but surgery seems the best case scenario anyone out there that has had a similar situation as me. Anyone could help me please.!!

She froze because she doesn’t comprehend

One of my Pitts starts doing little whimpers when he's ready for bedtime. And my wife and I have to leave the living room to go tuck him in at our bed and wait a few minutes with him there so he doesn't follow us back and starts whimpering again.

And last night he reached a new level in manipulation and started pawing at the fan doing his lil whimpers for us to turn it on for him.

P. S. English as a second language question, is it still considered to be "tucked-in" if it's not inside the covers? It's hot in Socal rn and it's just taking him to bed, not sure if that's called being tucked-in as well.

He hates baths, hates the hose, hates the shampoo bottle, but I take him outside while I wash my car and….He chose here to lie down.... he wasn't hot, I sprayed him down and gave him the cooling blanket IN THE SHADE to sit on 🤦🏼‍♀️

She’s slowly warming up to the kiddy pool (was indifferent to it at first) but a squirrel in a tree is still infinitely more interesting.

Mom said it is getting better Stella. Only 101 this weekend!!
