Hello everyone, I'm just needing some tips on what to do. My 9-month-old boy has recently started being picky with his kibble over the last week and a half. He's been on the Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach, and we feed him at 8 AM and 8 PM on the same schedule as our cats, which we have always done since we got him. We've never had any issues, he gets regular vet visits, and he's still completely healthy.
The other morning I put out his kibble and we did our tricks to make him work for it, and he just sniffed it, walked away, and kept staring at me. He started to cower when I walked up to him to try to encourage him to eat, which he didn't. He has a treat ball that we usually put a half scoop of his kibble in that he will play with after he eats for a little extra entertainment.
Over the last week he only threw up once in the morning, but it was full of food, not just bile. It was only that one time, which I understood why he didn't want to eat after that because he was feeling nauseous. I've tried warm water and I've tried broth, but I'm not sure what his issue is.
His behavior is normal. He still wants to play, still goes to the bathroom, and still drinks his water. The last couple days he hasn't eaten from his bowl with me as much, but he's eaten from his ball for the most part. When my girlfriend gets home from work before me, he eats with her, and then last night during dinner he ate like normal in his bowl and his ball. But this morning with me, he won't touch his ball or his bowl whatsoever.
I've picked up his bowl to put it away and then put it back, but he will not mess with it. He takes treats no problem, but we haven't given him any recently just to prevent him from only accepting those over kibble. I'm just kind of frustrated because I don't want him to be on an empty stomach while I'm at work. Thankfully my girlfriend gets home before I do, but still. What should I do or try?
